BA to cut 21 routes "Included in those route cuts are BA’s services from Aberdeen to Cardiff, Newcastle, Belfast, Southampton, and Bristol."

Take it this means the end of BA at NCL and a link with LHR

Not that I will miss BA at all. But is this the end of a service to LHR?

Who else could fly the route? What about interlining? This is bad for NCL!

Are you sure?

The article says the route from ABZ to NCL is going -it actually went some time ago to Eastern. Please don't start a BA axing NCL-LHR rumour as this is just bad journalism.

Pretty sure it is from 2002!

Reasons:

1. Citiexpress
2. New flights from Manchester!
3. Cancelling London-Belfast
4. End of prop flights in the UK
5. New flights starting in April 2003 - the big one!

the list continues...

Ah - I thought it sounded a bit strange.

Brussels Airlines

Help!

What's happening with Brussels Airlines flight on a morning? My company told me yesterday that for the month of June I can fly on a Monday morning again, however this is not available for July and August.

Can anyone shed any light on the situation with this route?

Do you know why only June? Are they checking to see how popular it is again?

Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus are to restart Dublin-Newcastle from October 26th operating 5 weekly. Similiar times as before meaning still rubbish for connecting onto Aer Lingus's long haul network out of Dublin.

SN

I never understood why SN cancelled their early morning service to BRU, surely it was more popular than the late evening one, as passengers could use it to connect onwards from BRU and by having 2 flights per day it targeted the business passengers more, enabling them to make a day return? Is the morning service now going to operate permanently?

EI

Nice to see them return, however why did they terminate service during the summer? I know EI have and are still undergoing significant changes, but by retiming their service they could aim more at both leisure and connecting pax, their network to US is good and passengers used to rate transferring in DUB highly.

WOW

How are the loads on the PLH/NQY doing - obviously must be promising for the service to continue?

TCX

TCX seem to be suffering from quite a few delays over the past week, is it just reactionary?

From Dublin, Aer Lingus traditionally operate higher frequencies to the UK during the winter and higher frequencies on more profitable European routes during the Summer. Dublin-Edinburgh for example operates twice daily during the winter but only daily during the summer. I do think they should reschedule Newcastle to earlier in the day so it would allow for transfers onto the afternoon flights to the US. The last New York flight of the day for example leaves at 4PM during the winter (5PM during the summer) so even making the Newcasltle flights two hours earlier would make connections possible.

Maybe EI have just accepted that the NE business travel trade suffer from BA blindness.

I used to use the EI route for the states, both JFK and BOS but getting an agent in the NE to 'offer' this was like pulling teeth. The normal response, having been give a BA LHR price and maybe, if I was lucky a KL or SN alternative; when prompted for an EI price the normal respons was 'err, did not realise that this was possible'.

DUB was by far the best connection, mainly because of the pre-clearance of US border controls before you leave Ireland. Breezing past the huge queues on arrival always brought a smile to my face.

Sadly, I do not have the need to travel to the US these days but for leisure I would still go that way and pay the overnight cost.

Great to hear the shamrock making a return, but what we need is some new routes to strengthen our route network. But with oil being $135 + a barrel we can only hope!! .

FAO GrahamK

the delay on the OHY is for some reason they operating the sector back to front via BRU, assuming it maybe a tech reason

the a/c came in empty around 1935 from BRU back too DLM then back too NCL for prov 0630, then the a/c goes too BRU empty
