I think the way the price of fuel is at the minute and keep rising it makes sence for easyjet to get rid of the 737's and to use the A319 only.

They still have loads of A319's on order and im not sure what easyjet is doing about expanding from airports at the minute with whats going on with the credit crunch ect. anybody know what they are doing are planning?

Is the A319 really more economical?! You learn somethig new everyday!

Is it not that it would be cheaper to get the whole network onto a 1 a/c type? As EZY are going for: A319/A320/A321 which can all be flown by the same crews.

Is it not fleet cominality more than fuel economy that is the money saver?

The 319 is no more fuel efficient than the 73G infact the 73G has a slight % better in fuel economy of the Airbus mostly because of its slightly lower weight. However the main reason easyjet are wanting to get rid of them quicker is that it will save them money in the long run by operating a 1 aircraft type fleet in this case being the Airbus aircraft family.

T3 are retimimg from 12/5 the first ABZ-SVG flight to leave 0650hrs which, if the first NCL arrival remains unchanged, suggests to me that T3 may be launching a direct NCL-SVG, as has been mentioned.

Watch this space I suppose.

I have learned not to read too much into edition 1 of the summer brochures. Flight slots and aircraft planning has not taken place and is no where near, so as always there will be alot of changes, with routes coming and going, along with changes in who operates what from which airports, basing what aircraft. We only get a vague idea of whats going to operate at this point!

What I am interested in is whether XLA will return to NCL? And I am surprised to see (if indeed things do not change) that TOM will only base 2 aircraft, as they operate sched/charter operation at NCL which by all accounts does pretty well!

i do agree that things change but ive never seen thomson change that much by the time the season starts so i think we will see only 2 aircraft from them

XLA will be doing malta on tuesday and funchal on a monday according to the summer sun
also ELF on a sunday afternoon so looks like they will be basing again

Durham tees valley
Thomson now only have 1 weekly to palma all other routes have been dropped
so a few big losses there

TOM are reducing scheduled operations significantly. This will just be a part of that

Guess the competition from the traditional low cost airlines is hurting TOM - their NCL flights always appear pretty full and are a welcome alternative, especially in winter!!

This years SFB operation is planned to operate directly, as is PUJ. CUN is only one with a scheduled fuel stop in MAN due runway restrictions at NCL.

if there is 3 aircraft they must be using our aircraft for w's into other airports as there is a reduction in flights unless an aircraft is going to be sitting on the ground at newcastle

im going to try and work the timetable out from the summer sun
