Anyone know whats happening with the Thomson 767 Punta Cana flight from 9am this morning? It showed as on "Last Call" until about 12 noon, then is now showing a delay until 17:00 along with a few others.

Is the aircraft actually @ NCL, as when i popped up earlier i couldnt see it on stand.

Brussels morning flight

There was some hard lobbying of Brussels Airlines to get them to reinstate the morning flight, with North East England's regional office in Brussels co-ordinating the campaign. Seems to have had some effect, as Brussels Airlines' original response implied that the aircraft was being deployed on a more profitable route. The partial reinstatement shows commendable flexibility in putting on the flight on the days and in the months when presumably yield is expected to be at its highest, and not when they can get a better return flying elsewhere. Well done Brussels Airlines.

How are Flybe's LGW loads doing? As BA and Jet2 felt unable to continue the service, I was wondering whether passenger numbers are sufficient despite being a smaller a/c.

TOM PUJ is provisional for 1700 - their first large delay on a long haul flight - anyone know reasons? XLA is also running behind schedule, along with AirBee flight.

The TOM 767 went tech just before departure! Pushed off stand to make repairs, pax disembarked! Been running her engines all afternoon spare parts sourced and fitted now leading to the aircraft been serviceable, and as i type it has just departed.

XLA needs to get its self moving as KEFALLINIA closes at 21.00!

Wonder if the delay to TOM will affect the CUN departure tomorrow or if a replacement a/c has been sourced?

Flybe NCL-ABZ

I see for June that Flybe have dropped the Tu & Th rotations, plus the timetable only goes as far as the end of June.

Surely Eastern haven't got Flybe by the "short 'n' curlys" on this route already?

The TOM PUJ suffered a double generator failure after pushback. The CUN is currently delayed till 1500.

Bet the passengers waiting for the knock on effected CUN departure don't see it like that - they'll be demanding a replacement or think it is ridiculous. I never understand when an aircraft has suffered a tech problem and is playing catch up why the punters give the girls and boys on the ground such a hard time?! Better safe than sorry, however they could of been as nice as pie - you just never know. It could be worse, anyone remember the delays of a few years ago on the long haul charter rotations?

FlyBe

Does anyone know what else is in the pipeline? Surely one based aircraft is not all they have planned?

Hopefully when Flybe announces their winter timetable in week or so's time there might be something new for NCL. The last press release held out a promise of expansion into European cities "with further announcements during 2008".

There should definately be more scope for Norway with DFS scrapping its NCL - Norway passenger ferry service. GTW expansion could be a problem slotwise. ABZ nothing after the end of June so far. I was thinking more of German cities.

Cloud1 tells me on the ABZ thread that high fuel costs have done for the Flybe ABZ route, no flights from July. Route left to T3.

Certainly with the scrapping of ferry services to Norway from NCL, there must be some scope for direct low cost air services. Currrently on T3 serve SVG with generally premium fares and WF with a sporadic service, maybe this is an area BE are looking at - ideal for a low cost operator with small capacity aircraft.

On the subject of BE, how is their summer services to LIG, RNS and JER doing?

As has been suggested on other threads, I am sure that increasing fuel costs will really limit expansion opportunities this winter.
Indeed capacity cuts will be the order of the day in many cases.
If an airline can't justify a route in the busiest months of the summer it is unlikely to risk something new during the cold winter months unless they are sure they have a nailed on certainty. (There are very few of them around these days.)
Fuel price rises should potentially result in a rise in fares (usually indirectly - i.e. stealth taxes & charges) and the higher cost of living should depress the market further.
However, airlines must continue to try and offer low fares to attract passengers. These opposing forces will have a negative effect on revenues.
Airlines face some tough decisions this winter and I fear there could be further casualties amongst those that fail to make the right ones.

FlyBe

Notice that the Exeter service is now once daily except Mon and Fri when its twice daily. Is that another cut back? thought it was twice daily on weekdays. FlyBe seem to also be making cuts on the Cardiff as well as ending the ABZ in July.
Eastern look like winning the battle on ABZ and CWL, wonder if they will keep the Saabs on the ABZ or revert to J41 when the competition goes.

I agree with commit aviation that the increasing fuel costs will limit expansion and also expect some cutbacks instead, were already seeing that with FlyBe this summer.

It will be interesting to see what Easyjet do this winter. Unfortunatley it would be no surprise to see them cutting back again at NCL. Early indications from LS suggest reductions this winter from them.

TRANSWEDE

LIM and RMS didn't start until 24/5 but I think they will both do quite well. JER did 49 pax in March and 1055 in April.
