Thanks Postcard you know me you know one thing if I am passionate about its NCL. 140/80 it ok......
Skyman - The extra stands and the pier would go hand in hand, why build a pier for only a few stands?? As for my loyalty for NCL well you won't find many more loyal! I do go out of my way to fly from NCL, why not it pays my wages however both destinations were not available from NCL, LRM & BGI. Plus you have to try the competition; you can also experience other airports flying from NCL so....

NCL pilot – 2-3 complaints a week! I rest my case
10 DMC ARC - as far as my employers are concerned, this is 2/3 complaints too much. Our customers perceptions of our airline begin the moment they walk through the airport as this is part of the travel experience, with the coaching being one of the complaints we hear. Whilst this may not sound much to you, in today's competitive environment, each 'comment' is one too many and this is passed to the powers that be.
Just speaking as a I find from a flight deck point of view

10 DME ARC - I fully apprecaite your position, but you did take the bait... There are others who remain just as loyal, I for one have not been anywhere near MAN for many, many years. I have always patronised BA connections for longhaul, however Eastbound at least I will soon be able to use Emirates, & no need to suffer LHR, a disgusting third world mess (with one exception the Holideck business lounge in T4 ) .

All the above gives me no confidence at all that any real improvemenets are planned in any aspect(including the 25min wait to get through passport control).
The attitude seems to be that the passeneger numbers are increasing therefore everybody must be happy with everything so no need to change/improve anything.
And not all staff are as good as the people on here claim. One of the best(in a long line) was when the check-in girl put the baggage receipt on the part of my boarding card that gets handed in at the gate without me noticing. What a job I had getting my suitcase transfered thro AMS. On another occasion I thought the computers had gone down as it took a full(timed) 15mins to process the people in front of me. When I got to the desk she said, "sorry for the wait, it was a large party". It was family of 4!
And can I get my China Airlines boarding card at NCL? Yeah but no but yeah but..... Some can and some can't do it. Are they all not trained???

Ash -I can assure you the airport takes all problems seriously, for example immigration the area I believe is about to be increased in size. What I was saying was why complain because you are parked off pier and need to be bussed, bussing is a normal activity at any airport. As for your check in problems I suggest you approach the handling agent/airline involved. People forget the airport has no direct control over check in and baggage reclaim other than providing the facilities. The airport used to provide all baggage services and it very good at it however in the 90’s the EU decided that it was un completive and they had to be given to handling agents.

Was there not a scheme planned a while ago whereby pax baggage would be taken from them before they even entered the terminal building?

Chief Executive

Interesting story in todays Newcastle Journal. Quote:
"Bosses at Newcastle International Airport have launched legal action against former chief executive John Parkin, The Journal can reveal. Papers - which are subject to a confidentiality agreement - have already been lodged with the Queen's Bench division of the High Court, it emerged yesterday.
The Journal yesterday made an application to obtain the details of the documents, arguing the matter was in the public interest, but a judge ruled that the matter would need a full hearing. The startling move comes amid claims from a well-placed source that Mr Parkin had an ongoing relationship with a European company that has recently bought Leeds Bradford International Airport.
The source claimed that Mr Parkin was set to be "parachuted in as chief executive" of the West Yorkshire airport by private equity firm Bridgepoint Capital Ltd, who just two weeks ago spent £145.5m purchasing the airport from five local councils after they agreed to sell all their shares.
A Newcastle Airport spokesman last night confirmed that it understood that Mr Parkin had been "connected" with Bridgepoint, who also helped privatise Birmingham Airport two decades ago, for more than a year before his suspension. The source also claimed issues had arisen over bonuses Mr Parkin had been paid last year in the wake of the successful re-financing of Newcastle International Airport.
Last night, head of planning and corporate affairs, Graeme Mason said: "Newcastle International Airport can confirm that High Court proceedings were entered into, but we cannot provide any further detail due to the ongoing legal proceedings."
Mr Mason also spoke about Mr Parkin's relationship with Bridgepoint - who list Darlington MP and former health secretary Alan Milburn as a director. He said: "We understand that John Parkin is connected with that organisation, but we are not able to comment further in view of the ongoing investigation. Any bonus payments, for whatever purpose, are a confidential matter between the company and the former director." Three months before Mr Parkin's suspension a major re-financing deal at the airport released £80m to the five Tyne and Wear authorities and two county councils which hold shares.
Mr Mason added: "The airport company fully understands the interest in this issue and we will provide information just as soon as legal proceedings will allow, but the reason we are providing such limited information at this stage is because we need to ensure that legal proceedings are not undermined."
When The Journal tried to obtain the High Court writ outlining the details of the case we were told it had been protected under a confidentiality agreement. High Court officials said details of the case could only be outlined if Mr Parkin, Newcastle International Airport and Bridgepoint Capital agreed. When we tried to get the confidentiality lifted High Court judge Justice Michael Burton told us a full hearing would be necessary.
Last night, a Bridgepoint Capital spokesman insisted no decision had been taken on new management for Leeds Bradford Airport. Declining to comment on legal proceedings, he said: "We have taken no decision on what additional management we may need for Leeds Bradford. We cannot comment on any relationship with any individual."

XL/Freedom Flights

We had already heard that xl/freedom flights wouldn't be selling flights through winter at NCL. I know it is early days, however, next summer seems to have huge reductions in sales from NCL, by looks of things they will only have 1 XL airways a/c based at NCL next summer an dusing Air Malta (KM) for some flights, must be instead of FJE.
No SSH selling for winter or next summer??!! seems strnage thought it was a big seller at NCL for both winter and summer. Any ideas who may pick up these routes?
XLA seem to be going ahead with the PFO through winter and next summer (old A-jet/Helios flight)
Summer 08 -
FAO - XLA
CFU - XLA
HER - KM
KGS - XLA
RHO - KM
ACE - KM
MAH - KM
PMI - XLA
DLM - XLA
Not much in comparison to xl's normaly flight routes, wonder if another charter will pick these up? No mention of FJE anywhere and no flights to -
Chania, Kalamata, Santorini, Thessaloniki, zante, Funchal, Alicante, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas or Malaga.
Again it is early days, rumours are that this is all they are planning at NCL from end of this summer due to ppl simply not buying there flights/holidays, apparently not profitable.

GSM Winter schedule plan:
B757 based in SFB to operate 2 x weekly GLA, 1 x weekly BFS, 1 x weekly LPL, 1 x weekly NCL.
'For YHM replace with SFB' Posting taken from another thread. Have I missed this, is it an additional SFB service?.. presumably they will be better prepared 2nd time around

All for the SFB service, think we should have more long haul from NCL, however not sure if GSM can cope with it or not, fingers crossed, no delays showing as of yet for today's service! Will they use a 757 for the SFB? I currently fly on one and don't tihnk i'd wana be a pax onboard for that long?!

nooluv - The XLA4146 is operated on the Finnair 757
