Looks like they've filled the LEI gaps by moving the LCAs on days 2/4 to better times, added a 2nd Saturday AGP and retiming the current very late ALC on day 7 to a morning flight.

First Airbus positions in today as the first LTN based A319
Good. So I was only a day out. With 1 September marking the start of the switch to the "bus", how long will the full conversion take - 6/8 months ?

It could take at least 12-18 months to fully convert.

Operated on the A319 today, nice a/c to work on

It's only 1 so far, DM and it came in from Palma. DL is a Glasgow based aircraft at the moment.

Wow

In an article about SkyEurope carrying 250K passengers from LTN in 10 months they quote "Over 100 million passengers use London Luton Airport each year which has increased by over 400 per cent in the past ten years and places it among the UK's largest airports."

With ACDL actively considering the purchase of a neighboring Essex airport should the BAA sell, I guess their investment at Luton until 2014 will be minimal?

As a fellow PPRuNer has stated, Luton is effectively in a 'Care & Maintenance programme' until the airport is handed back to LBC at the termination of the concession period? Judging by my info, he might be correct!

Various ex TBI departments being wound up in the UK and heading to sunny Espania!

I was also told today that at London City, they are going to infill an adjacent dock add parallel taxiways and additional stands then be capable of 45-50 movements per hour

If STN is offered for sale and TBI/ACDL buys, then LTN is dead in the water and LBC will have another Manston-style airport on its doorstep (except, with a considerably shorter and less useful runway).

The boneheads in LBC will the finally reap the reward that they deserve...

As I have said before don't see anyway LTN would become like Manston. Worst case is London Business Airport with very little for Joe Public.

For future growth read 'whoever gets the best deal in future airspace developments'.

You could spend inordinate amounts improving the infrastructure, but if the airspace above and beyond cannot deliver the 'extra' movements per hour, you are better off investing in.......a busway!

Ukraine?

Some months ago Wizzair announced their intention to start flying Luton-Kiev from mid-September, subject to Government approval. The Wizzair website does not show the route, and it's not bookable (neither are any other international flights from Ukraine).
Is it going to happen, and if so, when??

Over on another thread a suggestion that EZY might buy LGW. I doubt they'd do it alone but they could be part of a consortium. Now that would mess LTN up; offices move to LGW, an LGW centric Easy only maintaining a pesence at LTN and STN where loads made sense and due to LGW slot constraints.

Still perhaps we could have the spectators car park back?

new route and new airline

Not all bad news - expect an announcement on Thursday regarding a new twice daily service to Rotterdam commencing end of October operated by a famous Dutch airline.

Transavia maybe. They are axing RTM-ORY and a LTN would fit into the old Orly schedule fairly well

Rotterdam

Flights now bookable on Transavia website.
7.55am / 20.50 departures
Hope its a success given current climate

Looks like the demise of Impulse store in the terminal is on its way--Boots staff were eyeing it up today.

Rotterdam - Stansted, didn't Transavia operate that route once, is this another loss to the BAA over in Essex?

Bad news for the XL staff involved at Luton, add that to the 60 leaving easyJet today. I hope they all find work soon.

So will any of the old XL routes be taken on by other airlines, they are not your normal low cost destinations being longer than the normal 2-3 hour sectors?

Yes. They then switched to serving Paris Orly, now back to London, but different airport this time obviously

Oh dear, Stansted is becoming a bit of a joke since a level pricing policy was introduced to prevent cross subsidisation across the BAA.....HOW SAD!

Next Airline To Go Bust? Betting

Buster is in no way, shape or form, advocating betting! I am merely indicating the odds here of the next airline to go out of business, which clearly saddens me.
