Due to a fire alarm indication, LHR tower has been evacuated to
the emergency tower facility.
Traffic handle at a reduced rate of 10 per hour until 2300 estimated.

Will give BA passengers a chance to slum it. Bet they don't have an
escalator out of action for 4 months+ or cracked floor tiles with yellow
and black tape stuck over the cracks in the arrivals area at T5.

Then again, perhaps they do

I used Luton as a passenger for the first time last week - having read the previous posts here, I can only concur what a sick and pathetic joke the access roads to and from the airport are. It's back to Stansted for me...

Grrr

Once the roads have all been completed, access to the airport will be better.

Good to see passenger numbers up by over 6% in July (Stansted's down again).

Luton is overcrowded now and is no pleasure to use. We went through there 2 weeks ago for a 6pm midweek departure and there was not a pair of spare adjoining seats in the whole departure lounge. Most people were standing up which isn’t surprising as I doubt there are more than 200 seats provided that are not part of an eating or drinking establishment.

Can’t believe how many floor tiles are still broken and are covered in yellow and black tape.

Compare that with Ibiza airport which handled 4.6 million passengers last year most of which are holiday season passengers. The departure lounge there must have been around 4 times the size of Luton’s departure lounge. While the terminal is nothing special there was no shortage of seating.

Grrr

There was one loads of seating, but then they opened the top floor to maximise retail income at the expense of the passenger.

Mind you, with 10.25 million folk using the place annually, no wonder there is a lack of bum parking!

150,000 pax predicted to pass through the airport between Friday & Monday, for the Bank Holiday, so pretty well packed.

Once the roads have all been completed, access to the airport will be better.
At the moment road traffic flow into the airport is regulated by the maximum flow rates that the Gypsy Lane roundabout and the roundabout at the bottom of the approach road can handle. Once those bottle necks have been removed the queue of traffic into the central area will be longer as peak traffic flows will increase significantly.

Anyone know why todays Luton Arrivals/ Departure boards have several "Sterling" arrivals and departures from Stockholm, Copenhagen, Billund etc. and then after the due stated times show as cancelled.

30 years ago it would have been true! Any Scanair DC-10's due, or perhaps a Maersk B720B?

Scandanavian Routes

Only a year or so ago, when Ryanair were focussing more on Frequency than the number oif destinations from LTN... They operated a twice daily service Stockholm Vasteraas!

It was dropped and transferred back to STN.
