Is there any possibilty of any of the Priority security or drop off fees going to repairing the holes in the terminal roof, this evening around 6pm there was a line of 6 buckets collecting rainwater about 20ft inside the departures level doors inside the terminal. At the time it was still only drizzling outside.

Security also a pain taking 35minutes to clear at 630pm with 3lanes closed, the priority lane unsurprisingly was doing a roaring trade....

All SkyEurope Flights From LTN Cancelled Tomorrow...

Looks like the sh*t may finally have hit the fan with SkyEurope...

On the LTN website, it is advising all flights from LTN with SkyEurope are cancelled and to contact the airline for information.

According to other websites, SkyEurope have been cancelling flights left right and centre today across their whole network.

Also the 8pm arrival from Bratislava and departure at 8.30pm tonight have no status next to them.

It looks like it maybe the beginning of the end and the news many have been expecting!

Does anyone know why the ILS 26 is notammed as withdrawn until 17 Sept. Is/has this caused any problems to date. What are they doing? visual/NDB/SRAs?

The ILS is being replaced. Once 26 is up and running again to CAT 3 standards, then the 08 ILS will be replaced.

SRAs or visual approaches are being flown. Except when the cloud is below 500 ft, then they have to use 08, as long as they can take the tail wind. Which they were doing Sunday night/Monday morning.

Thanks Easy and level Bust. Remeber the first ILs on 26 in 1969 ish, and ILS on 08 and Cat III seem recent though I guess the current setup is at least 15years old now!

No SRAs to half a mile though! I'm sure Vintage ATCO could comment!

Unhappy Re: Servisair pulling out of LTN

Aviance staff have been advised that from late Sept they will be taking over ground handling of Ryanair and Thomson Airways from Servisair who are pulling out of LTN. Servisair staff to transfer contracts to Aviance. I can see some possible redunancies?

easyJet cut flights from LTN by 20% and close EMA Base

This is not a good week for LTN...

After Servisair shutting up shop at Luton and SkyEurope ceasing operations, easyJet have today announced their summer programme next year will be reduced by 20% and they are also closing their East Mids base!

easyJet announces network redeployments

BBC NEWS | Business | Jobs at risk in Easyjet closures

Not good news at all! I wonder if their are any airlines waiting to fill the gap!

It seems like the threat in the news a few weeks ago was not, an empty threat.

On BBC 3CR the chairman of easyJet was talking to Jonathan Vernon-Smith and said how Abertis were not willing to negotiate of airport charges and blamed them for this move. He explained how other bases (probably LGW) were now also more profitable than LTN and these aircraft would be deployed to these bases.

This also means a significant number of job losses to a town, that really does not need this news right now. Numbers have not been mentioned yet...

I live up in Northamptonshire, so LTN and EMA are my local(ish) airports and cut my choice quite significantly.

Easy Proposed 20 Per Cent Reduction

If my maths is correct this means three aircraft will be removed from the Luton base and probably transfer to continental Europe. That leaves three aircraft stands for more night stop aircraft - It will be interesting to see if Wizz and Ryanair put any more aircraft in to fill the void. It was to my mind at least that when the dreaded APD goes up it will have an effect on the number of passengers flying out of the UK.
If my thinking is correct the flying reduction does not come into effect until the Summer 2010 programme commences at the end of March 2010 so still time to thrash out a compromise. Sorry also to hear about EMA but not surprised there with Ryanair, BMIbaby and now Jet2 all competing. Also at the end of the press statement a reduction in the flying programme by easyJet from other UK airports.

This equates to a loss of about 950k pax, so a pretty big gap to fill. Trust Aberits & LBC to make another "excellent " decision, along with all the others of recent weeks. Ugh !!!!

I am wondering why they are surrendering night-stopping slots that will attract the competition. They could have kept the planes at LTN and do W-patterns during the day. Locks the competition out and still allows capacity reductions.
