Luton and Wizzair

I wouldn't see Wizzair changing operations out of Luton anytime soon. It's becoming a stronghold for them.

If Luton Airport had anything about them "in the upstairs division", perhaps they should be trying to lure Wizzair to establish a base there. However, I don't think Wizz want that anyway. The Maths just do not add up.....

Harrods Aviation has made special arrangements with the UK Border Agency (UKBA) for passengers and crew to complete immigration procedures at its London Luton Airport FBO. The move follows a UKBA decision earlier this year not to continue the previously standing practice of allowing business aircraft operators to use the pre-clearance procedure, thereby avoiding the inconvenience of requiring passengers and crew to have their passports checked in the main airport terminal.

Harrods claims to be the only Luton FBO to provide this service, which is available between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. According to the UKBA, the new policy of not routinely making staff available to clear business aircraft is supposed to be applied at all airports in the London area.

However, research by AIN showed that this is not the case and that the agency’s staff at Luton has been enforcing the policy more rigidly. For instance, UKBA staff have continued to be available at Harrods and other FBOs at London Stansted Airport.

Proposed Easyjet Passenger Reduction

Has anybody thought that the only two airlines which have complained about the passenger charges hich are levied are easyJet and Ryanair (even they have been rather quiet lately) and I cannot find anywhere in print that Monarch, Thomson, Wizzair, Flybe, Aer Arran, El Al etc have made any complaints about the charges they have to pay. Any thoughts would be most welcome. C3B

I wouldn't bet on it!

Monarch had a few words to say last year...

Travelpad Airline condemns Luton aircraft parking fees

Tim Jean's words are exactly I and other people have been saying... Where is the investment going?

Interesting. Despite not even being a base for Wizz, it is still their largest operational airport in terms of departures, throughout there entire network.

I understand that two, possibly three new routes are planned for LTN for S10.

Wizz and their passengers seem more than happy with the 'Town Hall Fee' unlike easyJet!

Looks like Slovakia is once again going to be linked to LTN, despite the loss of Sky Europe. Danube Airways are due to start 3 x weekly flights from Poprad/Tatry on 1 Dec using a 734.

The route was always well patronized so should do well.

I believe MAN is to get a similar connection.

Danube Wings

Flights are Tue/Thur/Sun. Midday arrivals and departures
Interestingly the web site says the Flights will be operated by VIP Wings.

Thought they were a VIP charter company??

They are. I think Danube Wings is the brand name, which is owned by VIP who have the AOC

Taken from TAT airport website....

"The airline connection will be operated 3 times a week by Danube Wings airlines in cooperation with Czech Airlines, using Boeing 737–400".

So has Aegean won the battle with Easy on the Athens route ? Perhaps their frequency and timings are more suitable to the traveler.

No More Athens

I think the finishing of the Athens service has nothing to do with their ´proposed´ cutbacks but wholeheartedly agree that the Aegean services have seriously eroded easyJet´s share of the market. Just look at the figures on the CAA statistics website to see what I mean. There again I may be wrong. C3B

Luton-funchal

I see that Thomson are not operating the Luton-Funchal route over the winter period but are returning in Spring 2010. I always thought that Madeira was an ideal winter holiday destination and having been there personally in November, surely it could warrant a B737 on the route but I suppose lets send them all down to Gatwick instead.

Isrotel will offer 12 Luton-Eilat charter flights between 13 December and 12 April. The new Isrotel Sun Express flights can be combined with stays at any of Isrotel’s seven hotels in Eilat. Currently, British visitors to Eilat have to connect via Tel Aviv.
