Ryanair summer 2010
A more substantial release since lunchtime although
hardly a time change let alone frequency change
for most routes compared to summer 2009.
However clearly not a full release but four aircraft required
most days.
I only checked one week in April and the booking engine
was split into three, with bookable, "no flights available"
and where the plane in circle appears which is usually a
sign that they will be released shorly.
Released: -
Alicante - back to daily with "W's" on Wed & sun as now
Bratislava - three weekly tu/th/sa
Londonderry - daily
Dublin - 3 daily
Gdansk - 2 weekly Tu/Fr
Girona - back to 3 weekly Tu/Th/Sa - times as now!
Katowice - back to four weekly Mo/We/Fr/Sun
Krakow - back to 4 weekly Mo/We/Fr/Su
Kunaus - 2 weekly We/Su
Malaga - Back to daily (2 on Sat)
Murcia - back to 4 weekly Tu/We/Th/Sa
Palma - 3 weekly Tu/Th/Sa
Prague - back to 5 weekly - Mo/We/Th/Fr/Su
Reus - back to 5 weekly - Mo/Tu/We/Fr/Su
Rzesnow - 2 weekly Wed/Su
Shannon - daily - Shannon based
Weeze - 4 weekly Mo/We/Fr/Sa
The possible ones for release (plane in a circle): -
Bologna
Arrecife
Las Palmas
Stockholm NYO
Tenerife
Trieste
"No flights bookable"
Biarritz
Billund
BZG
Hahn
Marseille
Olbia
Torp
Perpignan
Pisa
Oporto
Trapani
Poitiers
Out of the last bunch possibly MRS, PSA , OPO & TPS
could be operated by the away based aircraft.
I would not be suprised if Hahn, Torp don't come back
and possibly Billund. I would have thought Perpignan,
Olbia & possibly Biarritz would be back for summer.

Routes
potash
I would have no idea of how long it would take but slots at each of the route could be a problem depending on the airport but if you are alluding
to the rumoured BHX-FUE it would be a matter of sorting the current schedule out, which might require time changes on other routes to fit in.
Have you anymore info on FUE?
BTW Monarch start their scheduled FUE tomorrow after their first Las Palmas went out nearly full on Monday. The Monarch loads are holding
up well at present.

Ryanair summer 2010
John
Cheers for the update.
Since last night Ryanair have released Stockholm NYO, Trieste
and Bologna for April 2010. All the same frequencies as this
summer and same days.
Four based aircraft required most days.

I have heard from a friend at another airline that baby plan on pulling out of brum this winter? Is this to release the aircraft for the EMA Meg base. I think MAN have also lost one, so are the others going back to the lease company?
Anyone know what the future fleet size plans are?

Everyone is waiting to see which way Lufthansa jump with baby......There is still the possibility I suppose that they could sell it off completely....
Winter is tough for everyone...Anything is possible right now....

Certainly not heard anything locally and their timetable still requires
6 based next summer and 4 this winter. Although it wouldn't take
much to condense summer into 4 or 5 units.
Obviously their major cutback was only last week with EDI cancelled
on Wednesdays which is quite significant as it basically shows that
they have given up (or they have at present) attracting the business
traffic.
Other than that it is just winter with both ZB & flybe making further
small cuts in the last week or so. flybe now have reduced Milan
to 5 weekly and that was double daily last winter in the week.
However Milan was always going to be a problem once the 145 left#
the fleet.
On a positive note Swiss are back to three daily and Cork is double
daily on csrtain week days from tomorrow.
Today also saw three 77W's which is not bad for a regional airport.

Flybe to Dubrovnik
Does anyone know if Flybe have released all their summer flights from BHX for 2010? I want to go to Dubrovnik in May but can't see it on their website at all - seeing as the seasonal French routes are on sale i'm guessing that it's not coming back and I will have to fly from EMA with Baby instead? I sent an email to Flybe asking them but have not had a reply

I think the Flybe flights are charters?? Anyway... they are on sale on the Holiday Options and Balkan Holidays websites (and can be booked as flight only) throughout May.
Hope this helps!

flybe Dubrovnik
Both Dubrovnik & Split were schedule services and not IT's in theory
but after they tried the former at three a week a couple of years
ago and went once only at the weekend, fares shot up and it was
clear that most the seats were sold to tour operators.
This is the first year since they started that they have failed to
appear on the flybe site (thus far).
On a separte note there is a flybe flight for Thomson to Faro next
summer I think short season at the weekend.

I think Flybe still have most (all?) of their seasonal weekend services to release. HUY-JER for example is in a similar position - not on sale with BE but it is on sale with Channel Island Travel Service

Lufthansa see increase in BHX-China
Travel from Birmingham to China is picking up, says airline

Trips to China are helping rejuvenate passenger numbers on flights out of Birmingham International Airport in a sign that the recession may have bottomed out – and business travel is also enjoying an upsurge.
German airline Lufthansa revealed that business travel, especially in the automotive and financial services sectors, was enjoying an upturn following a late summer, early autumn jump in numbers, despite overall figures around 30 per cent down for 2009.
And the Far East is proving a popular destination for travellers, with demand to China out of Birmingham up by about 16 per cent year on year. Lufthansa is picking up nearly a fifth of that traffic.
Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa general manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “Travellers are coming back to business class. We are seeing things picking up in the automotive industry and in financial services, although figures for IT and technology are still very much down.
“We saw this for the first time in late summer, early September. Although we are still down on passenger numbers overall, these are encouraging signs.
“This trend is reflected in Birmingham and the commercial traffic for us is extremely important out of the airport. Birmingham is still No.3 after London and Manchester.
“I am very pleased that we have maintained our connecting services. We believe they are becoming more attractive to business travellers.”
Figures issued by Lufthansa show that demand for travel to China out of Birmingham is growing, with destinations including Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing increasingly popular.
Firms that have regularly flown with Lufthansa to China include BMW, Alstom, GKN, Federal Mogul and Ericsson.
Other destinations organised by the German airline that are continuing to attract travellers include Hong Kong, the Middle East, Vienna, Rome and Africa.
Meanwhile, the airline is boosting its services to Africa with an increase in flights to Nigeria from ten to 14 per week with the introduction of the winter timetable.
Despite a reduction in the number of winter flights in line with demand, Lufthansa has confirmed the reintroduction of a seasonal service between Inverness and Dusseldorf next summer and a new service from Munich to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from March.
In the new winter timetable Lufthansa is offering a total of 12,406 weekly flights to 191 destinations in 78 countries, a decrease of 7.4 per cent.
Lufthansa has been voted Europe’s leading airline in the 2009 World Travel Awards for the second consecutive year

Thanks for the Dubrovnik info, yes flights are indeed bookable on Balkan Holidays website BHX-DBV but sadly at 265 pounds return I won`t be taking them up on their offer It would seem that yes this flight is now indeed a charter flight, shame. Easy from LPL are the best deal at 85 pounds return, pity I have to travel all the way there, i am really surprised this route has not worked for BE from BHX

US Air Summer 2010 - pulled?
Reported on another forum BHX -PHL has gone after just one season.
Part of a wider cutback with 5 European routes suspended including
Milan, Gatwick and Stockholm from PHL.
Not too surprising as it was rumoured to be under review but
disapointing nevertheless.

US Airways
Gutted about that one, used it three times this year. It's really incomprehensible how a route that was (when I used it - May, July and Sept) 85-90% full is dumped. Perhaps it's more to do with the gate probs at PHL than owt at BHX! Oh well, another place that I'll never visit again unless they reinstate it from an airport that's easy to get to, such as BHX.

Very bad news about US but it seems to be par for the course at the mo and I highly doubt AA or DL will step into the breach: The new pier could be pretty quiet next summer, indeed with FR and BE stagnating too could there in fact any real need for T2 the way things are going????
With the rumours flying round about Baby aswell it could be a very grim 2010 for BHX: Are there any new routes in the pipeline for next year?
Like others I think EZY would be perfect but again doubt they will come either having shut up shop at EMA and downsized ops at LTN: Testing times, its such a pity that BHX cant seemingly keep new routes and airlines for more than a year or two, next summers scheduled timetable is going to look a bit poor for the UKs second city airport

The 'Philadelphia Enquirer' reports that ,as well as BHX, that routes to Stockholm, Milan, Shannon and Gatwick will also go. The planned Beijing route has been knocked on the head. Even the New York - Boston shuttle is trimmed down to an EM190 operation.
