There was a BA aircraft taxiing to the apron this afternoon, about 4.30pm, anyone know what type of aircraft it was? I know its a horrendously geeky question but I couldn't work out what it was!

i see that Edinburgh has gone off the " Radar " as off 27 March
Please tell me this is a glitch. I've made good use of this route since its launch. In saying that it has mostly been on the cheapo fares with no bags and Visa Electron.

Perhaps Ryanair can't make domestic routes work as people are finding they can travel with hand baggage only and don't book hold baggage.

BA aircraft may be a diversion from LGW as runway has been shut since 15.20 due to snow!

Evening diverts

More like "come on Bournemouth Air"

21.45 at BOH people are ready to knock the lights off and go home or get their heads down, not play serious airports!!!
Is it still the ADM/Servisair who has the final say on accepting a divert during the evening/night shift or do they now have an Op's dept.

Surely they shouldn't refuse a Ryanair, BOH is a RYR Base !

Must have been plenty of room ! ?

Bournemouth might have plenty of room to park, but not plenty of staff especially when you cannot roster for diverts! Every single person working at the airport on Monday night did an outstanding job considering the circumstances. You should be praising them for the effort they all made dealing with 9 diverted aircraft. Well done

Have to agree on the above post , no airport has staff on standby waiting for possible diverts

Monday was a normal day with the usual 3 arrivals scheduled for in the evening , with i guess the appropriate number of staff to deal with those paticular flights .

At the moment the airport is going through a massive re development with many areas closed off and being re built to what will hopefully be a better experience and recources for customers but at the moment its a building site

To suddenly have close on 1500 passengers , 9 flights land in close proximity is pretty over whelming with almost every passenger wanting individual attention is just impossible to cope with when you have just a few staff on duty and the logistics of sorting hotels / buses / bags off etc is bloody hard

Yes years ago Bournemouth had sometimes upto 30 diversions and dealt with them accordingly with aircraft parked all over the place and an amazing site to see Laker DC10 , SAS A300 Airbus , 12 BA Tridents all lined up etc but those days at the moment cant happen

Bournemouth is a great airport for Fuel and Go and with 12 new stands now available hopefully they will see more of this but at the moment off loading passengers is a problem when there are not enough staff

Well done to those on duty that evening though

I seem to remeber that in the good old days the coaches hired in to transport pax back to LGW/LHR were escorted out to the aircraft parked up on the disused. Guess that would never be allowed these days. (Bring back BIAS and Mr RP !)

Diverts

I have to agree entirely with the above posts, I wasn't having a go at the late staff as I know they are already stretched to the limit to deal with the normal evening arrivals, having to deal with extra aircraft parked on distant locations is always a pain, it not only removes staff from the apron but also equipment is dispersed all over the place, plus the scheduled arrivals should take priority over diverts, and when you have only a skeleton crew that's not really on.
As for the good old days with aircraft parked 3 deep all over the place that's OK for the spotters, not the workers, I can remember the angry passengers parked 10 deep all over the terminal waiting to be individually dealt with, already not amused with their new location in Bournemouth far from where they should be in the wee small hours, no facilities open as they rightly close after the last departure & security being asked to stay on to make sure passengers do not run amok!!
Maybe a quick buck for the purse but a whole load of bad publicity for the airport from disgruntled passengers, better to send them to on their way to an airport fully operational.
Take what you can & wave goodbye to the rest with a clear conscience!!

Keep up the good work.

great bunch of lads

Just an addition to the above comments about servisair, the ramp boys do a great job in tough conditions. There is only so much three or four guys can do on a shift if diverts start arriving.

Especially when they are stuck in their Armchair watching TV !

I think the comment you would hear most is :-

" I'm not doing anything till I've finished My Tea "

Still no sign of EDI beyond end of March. No official announcement on FR website. Anyone got a better insight?

So what's next then?

Two based FR aircraft - must mean a few unannounced schedules still in the pipeline. Will be interesting to see what the summer brings...

Flybe is hard to match for domestic frequency and SOU is still a nice airport to use, despite the "Rip-Off" Flybe fares... and tech probs with the Dash 8.

I wonder how long it will be before another carrier has a crack at BOH-MAN? It's long overdue!

Meanwhile lets hope for more longer legged and longer lasting FR routes... Poland, Italy, Morocco!? ... and southern Germany!

It is what I expected but did not really wanted to hear. No surprise though. The loads at times were very poor and I suspect the yields even worse.

So the days of getting my mum down to babysit because it was cheaper than paying someone are over.

Exactly ! You would also think they would want them on sale now ! Not wait till the last minute

Does look like there is not enough work for the planned 2 x based a/c ?

I doubt that the Airport would know! I also doubt whether Ryanair know for certain what they are doing in March. And even if they did know, would they tell the Airport.
