BMI Baby
Should be Mon/Fri/Sat, East Mids based aircraft
This slot has been unoccupied for over a month now and
there was speculation on the Jersey thread as to the
destinations as the gap was not long enough to get to
beyond the South Coast or Wales.
With all the job losses and aircraft reductions, I expected
this one not to operate but it looks like some positive news
from BMI Baby.

Does anyone know what the time of the gap in the schedule is at EMA as this will give us an indication of the flight times. Will be a great addition to the summer schedule and make more use of the new Terminal when it opens next spring.
Any more news on FR???? Are they going to carry on with the Canary Islands in the summer and would this be with the 1 based BOH plane, or might the allusive 2nd plane be brought in with a few other destinations?????
Good News though.

bmibaby now bookable
Website now taking bookings with fares from just GBP6 oneway
Mon, Fri and Sat flights as suspected
This is great news (JER seems to be announcing a lot of new routes for 2010)
Should put an additional 15,000 passengers through the Bournemouth for the summer and if it continues through the winter 2010/11 then possibly up to 20,000 for calendar 2010.

Yes really good news to finally have a Jersey route back , lets hope it performs well which it should do
All signs show a busy summer ahead and with a new Departure terminal finally
Does anyone know if there will be a second floor to the departure main centre section as it looks pretty big ?

The answer is yes, there will be a second floor, the layout is TBC...
Not the best doc in the world, but this link may shed some light on the possible layout

Anyone else read today's press release from Bournemouth Airport and read between the lines that JER is not the only route BMIBaby is planning to offer from Bournemouth?

"Plus the development of the new terminal at Bournemouth Airport, which is due to open in spring 2010, will open up even more opportunities for bmibaby."
Indicates more routes for sure, so lets hope we get Prague, Paris, Nice, Barcelona, Almeria. Mahon etc These routes are not yet served in a low cost format from BOH and they could prove successful.

Lufthansa
Will this (bmibaby development) bring attention to Lufthansa of the potential of BOH services to Germany? Or am i being incredibly wishful thinking?
Frankfurt Hahn did 90% loads on the daily FR but yields were crap.
Air Berlin did great yields on Paderborn but volumes were low (better than when it went from SOU though)
Perhaps BOH needs NQY style 1 or 2 flights per week to German destinations for the inbound potential which is massive to the south coast?

BOH-HHN loads
Hi,
Please excuse a little correction on BOH-HHN (sorry for being slightly anal - it's my job):
The route operated from Feb 2002 to Oct 2003 and carried over 150,000 pax with an average from load factor of 67%.
In July and August 2002 and again in Aug 2003, the load factor exceeded 80% (with a peak of 89% in Aug 02, which is maybe the figure that you are referring to). However, for the rest of 2003 it did not get above 70%. Loads from Jan to March were below 55%.
Maybe the route could work if it returned 2 or 3 times weekly (especially in Summer)?
