Sharmrock, EMA have the biggest marketing team in Christendom. i think they have more than 12 spending MAGS money on going to events etc, so no excuse.
Typical MAG response is to bput in more Ryanair capacity, but it makes no money. The pax numbers may look good, but the P&L is unhealthy and this is what is paying back that £45m.

Looking at the times of the new services

Valencia
THU / MON 0640 1200

Ibiza
TUE / FRI 1030 1605

Fuerteventura
SUN / THU 1245 2200

Malta
TUE / SAT 0705 1400

These new services will need a 2nd based aircraft to operate and i would expect a few more routes as well as this would not be enough to sustain the aircraft all the time but great news !

2nd aircraft announced at BOH from Mar 2010

RYANAIR ANNOUNCES 4 NEW ROUTES FROM BOURNEMOUTH
to Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Malta & Valencia From March ‘10
2 Aircraft, 650k Pax p.a. & 650 Jobs at Bournemouth

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (18th Dec) announced that it will add one new Boeing 737-800 aircraft (2 in total) and open four new routes (16 in total) from its Bournemouth base to Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Malta and Valencia from late March 2010. This brings Ryanair’s investment in Bournemouth to two aircraft worth over $140million.

These four new routes along with increased frequencies on three other routes to Alicante, Malaga and Palma will increase Ryanair’s annual traffic at Bournemouth to 650,000 p.a. which will sustain 650 local jobs.

To celebrate its further expansion at Bournemouth Ryanair is extending its 500,000 £5 January seat sale, for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays, until midnight Sunday (20th Dec) on www.ryanair.com .

Speaking in Bournemouth today, Ryanair’s Lesley Kane said:

“Bournemouth today celebrates its 2nd Ryanair based aircraft, four new routes to Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Malta and Valencia and increased frequencies on three other routes to Alicante, Malaga and Palma from late March 2010. These new flights go on sale today and with 16 low fare routes from Bournemouth consumers/visitors can continue to beat the recession by choosing Ryanair’s lowest fares and guaranteed no fuel surcharges to exciting destinations all over Europe. Ryanair’s 650,000 passengers p.a. will sustain 650 local jobs in Bournemouth in 2010.

To celebrate these new aircraft and routes at Bournemouth, Ryanair is extending its 500,000 £5 January seat sale to midnight Sunday. Since seats at these crazy low prices will be snapped up quickly, we urge passengers to book them immediately on www.ryanair.com”.

Anyone notice the bit about 650 jobs at Bournemouth, I think that an airport the size of Bournemouth only employ about 200 at the moment!
So where are the other 450 coming from or is this the usual diatribe from the Ryanair Propaganda Unit? (otherwise known as Marketing at other companies.)

Anyway it's good news as Ryanair needed to get the (promised) second based aircraft in as other airlines are looking at Bournemouth.

While the 'traditional passenger ferry' service from Poole to Cherbourg will end, the summer only 'fast ferry' service will remain

As for Larnaca, Olympic Holidays also offer it from BOH

Busy summer 2010 - more flights on the way?

So for now looks like up to 14 departures (28 flights) a day in the summer months?

Poole to Cherbourg also has the weekend year-round services by the Contentin ship. Who knows maybe Stena or P&O will come in and plug the short fall. I very much doubt an air link from BOH to Cherbourg, Dinard, Caen or Brest would survive on its own merit unless it was to go via the Channel islands.

I have been told by a good source that more good news is expected for 2010.

Looking at the Ryanair web site to see what days the additional flights they have announced are operating and to get a better picture of the 2 based aircraft rotations i see that Edinburgh has gone off the " Radar " as off 27 March ?

Could it be they have given up on the domestic routes from Bournemouth altogether now and just concentrate on the European resorts .

Prestwick first which did very well until a double daily started then cancelled and Edinburgh introduced with crazy flight times and poor loads which seem to be going down hill each month .... real shame but i just think a 189 seater on this type of route will never work

Bring on a double daily 50 seater airline / aircraft

FR dropping BOH-EDI could present better opportunities for BOH

I would expect FR to move away from domestic services - it doesnt seem to be their thing. Plus it's very difficult to compete with Flybe at Southampton doing 6 daily flights with Embaers against a single daily B738

BOH needs a NQY-BOH-EDI style operation, perhaps with a BOH-NQY-MAN service on the return. I could easily utilise two Dash 8-300's for domestic BOH operations plus weekend sorties to Bergerac and/or Grenoble depending on season. Domestic routes crying out for operation from BOH include GLA, NCL, GCI and BFS/BHD

As for further European development; BOH would also easily be able to accommodate 2 A319's based & flying to Amsterdam, Nice, Rome, Funchal, Menorca, Malaga, Palma (year-round), Berlin and Bordeaux to complement the current Geneva services. Geneva should be encouraged year-round.

Yes another vote for a route to central Germany . e.g. Hahn .

Nothing agaist these routes but Dorset,Devon has some of the nicest beaches in UK .

But it has to be a German route with thick enough traffic, not Paderborn again! I could have asked my 6 year old if BOH to PAD would work and he'd say no. Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich then yes.

I would have to disagree with Shamrock though: i can only see easyJet making Scottish routes work from BOH to GLA, EDI, ABZ, INV. Air Southwest would have to charge a fortune for a 50 seater flying such a long sector. No way they can compete with Flybe at Southampton. I could see Air Southwest doing Guernsey, Newquay, Norwich, Manchester maybe Belfast and agreed maybe Bergerac in the summer.
