European 747-200
I was under the impression that none were airworthy!! Unless the major checks have now been completed?!
Wasn't there one stuck in AMS?? Am I right in saying that one is at the Top Gear track. Where did the remainder end up?
Certainly the ones at BOH are out of commission, missing vital components like wings. tails and flight decks !!!!
Lets hope they don't try taking off fully loaded and fuelled like the infamous take off of the Sao Palo flight from BOH. I think they may need to cut the remainder of the perimeter fence from the undercarriage.

Don't know where they would park it, suppose it would have to be Taxiway Romeo South as cant bring 747's onto the main apron.
Dont know if the apron improvement will cater for that size of a/c?!
If the terminal hasn't been completed by then, can the airport cope with the pax numbers what with the extra Ryanair routes?

Where is this rumour coming from?
All European 747's have been scrapped... G-BDXJ belongs to Air Atlanta.
I'd be surprised if European purchased any new 747's, employed new crews etc. just for one flight.

BOH - Florida has been on the cards for some time I believe, however the type of aircraft is more likely to be a 767-200ER or a 757-200ER.
The 747-200 has long been consigned to the scrap heap or tramp freighter work in the developing world. Even PIA finally grounded their 747-200s recently citing fuel costs. Don't believe there are any 747-200 regularly crossing the atlantic with pax any longer. NWA was the last to retire them, along with their DC10s.
Stories I heard on the BOH-US issues, related to Zoom and Continental, but I dont expect to see any developments this year.

The winter Palmair brochure goes on sale on 1 st May from Bournemouth using the ever trusty 737 200 !
There are no new destinations however good news is that Fuerteventura goes weekly now and a big increase in flights to Monastir as well .
Tenerife is weekly again and there is a decrease in flights to Funchal this year probably to do with Thomsonfly operating there this winter for the first time
Mon Funchal
Tue Fuerteventura
Wed Jersey day trips ( onward flight goes to Tenerife )
Thu Arrecife
Fri Tenerife
Sat Faro / Malta
Sun Monastir / Palma
Not bad at all for a company operating for over 50 years now against all the competition

Does this mean the aircraft used on this route will be used on an entirely different route to another airport?

Really surprised about the Gdansk flights as loads seemed quite reasonable for a start of a new route , obviously forward bookings were not what was expected a real shame . just goes to show the state of the market at the moment really cut throat
Easy jet were only winter flights but could well be back next winter and obviously Ryanair starting there new route to Worclaw , i guess we will just have to wait and see what happens with this one !!

Lots in the press about weakening £ against the euro, guess that Wizz want the aircraft for more lucrative routes in the Eurozone. 8 weeks is not enough to prove any route! Be interesting to see where the schedules change...

Wizz are withdrawing the CVT-GDN route on the 15th May as well as BOH-GDN.
Rumours elsewhere that the planes are needed for the KBP (Kiev Boryspil) base opening on the 11th July

Sorry for being so clueless has there ever been flights from BOH to Sao Paulo or any part of Brazil?

The flight to Brazil (can't remember exact airfield destination) took off runway 08 loaded with the minardi team going to the brazilian GP.About 80 people and some cargo on board. It did use all but the last 30 or 40 metres of runway to get airborne.

Post from this thread re the aircraft going to Kiev
"Thats rubbish. Coventry & Bournemouth-Gdansk were both only 3 weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays), the Kiev base is getting a brand new airbus (it said so in the press release) which hasn't been delivered yet. The two routes were axed presumably because they weren't performing well enough. The capacity will probably be switched to more profitable routes from Gdansk."
Quote from the Gdansk thread: -
"Wizz schedule has been changed because 1 a/c (of 3 based in GDN now) will be moved to KTW. (1 KTW a/c reallocated to Ukraine to fly for Wizz
Air Ukraine from July). Most probably GDN will have 3 a/c again after new deliveries."
End of quote
Correct the aircraft is not going to Kiev but KTW and then one of their
aircraft is going to Kiev or so the poster says on the Gdansk thread.
Whoever is right it does not matter as the Coventry & Bournemouth
routes are going and that is fact. However how do you claim to have tried some kind of yield management in such a short space of time and coming into the summer months. Probably could understand it a bit more if was going into the winter period (yes we know a lot of Poles are heading back home due to the £ ).
It just looks as they got a better offer and they have shuffled the pack. If they believe that will make more money then you can't argue with that. From the outside it just looks mad, to research the route, advertise it and operate it for a bit before changing your mind.
