Jersey Passengers

If you care to look carefully Shamrock the table on the CAA statistics website shows that 941 passengers were carried on scheduled flights and 508 on charter services to Jersey in April. I will leave you to work out the percentages.

New Control Tower?

I noticed a picture on airliners.net that shows some kind of tower construction going on at bournemouth - 6 stories high, near the north side, adjacent to runway. i can only assume this is a new control tower? i cant understand what else it could be

Jersey Flights

Regarding bmibaby they must have some good bookings in later months as they have been persuaded to continue the Jersey service through the winter into March 11 at a higher frequency. But granted, 38.2% load factor is really bad for the first full (ish) month of operation.

A Boeing 737-500 is too large a plane for Jersey but appreciate they have no other option. AS FR found out with Glasgow and Edinburgh a 737-800 is just not suitable.

BOH needs domestic routes but with a 60-80 seater plane.

Route questions for people in the know

1...How was the load factor for the first day of Flybe Manchester?

2...Are load factors picking up on Jersey?

3...I have heard that Bourgas has been pulled from the summer programme (Aug-Oct) because of a lack of demand. Havent seen any advertising for it though so not surprised!

4....There often seem to be 2 TOM B738's on the ramp at the same time. Why is this?

5...Will any new services / based a/c be announced during the unveiling of the new terminal next month?

Flybe add's INV to drop down

Flybe have added Inverness to the drop down menu for flights from Bournemouth. It involves a change of aircraft at Manchester but this now increases to 6 the number of direct and indirect destinations they are offering from Bournemouth. Seems like a testing of the water for future route development.

Flybe load factors - 64%

Loads on the first MAN-BOH-MAN sectors were 49 & 50 respectively.

Respectable for the first day of operation

2 different visitors

On the Bournemouth mayfly for next week a Miami air 737-800 with a first class layout coming from Cleveland 14:55 june 11th flying out to Calcutta 08:00 the following day.
And sunday the 13th Jet2 are handling a Tristar A300 coming from Dublin at 08:30 for the Isle of wight festival.
Obviously these could get cancelled but usually when they make it onto the mayfly they do normally come in

Maybe there isn't one ???

Will they still be there this Winter ?

Will there be any route announcements at the Grand Opening ?

Now the Terminal is complete, they will be needing some new Airlines and Routes !

It's all been very quiet

Yep i was wondering the same about the Ryanair winter routes and when they might be loaded ?

All other UK bases have had there routes on sale for about a month now so i am surprised with Bournemouth and there 2 based aircraft still showing nothing !

Palmair are also late this year with a July release planned at the moment but if they dont have an aircraft from November not sure what they are up to

Bournemouth s long awaited new departure terminal is " officially " being opened later today , although its been operating for the last month or so .

TV coverage was done a few days ago which should be put out later , all we need now is a few more services to start filling it up

Arrivals terminal should start soon

Coverage of the new terminal opening

BBC News - New Bournemouth Airport terminal opens

Got to laugh that us locals thought the old sheds were "quaint". Congrats to all involved for the new terminal.

Very surprised Ryanair didn't announce any new routes today especially with the delay to the release of the winter timetable. If they don't hurry up then all the school holiday traffic over October half term, Christmas and Feb half term will be looking at alternative airports to fly from to guarantee the flights.

Very frustrating....

Personally think BOH is very low on FR's list of priorities. Probably the last base they decide routes from. They messed about with the summer one for ages before finalising it.

Can't see many if any new routes or airlines till the economy picks up.

Would love EZY to base a couple of 319's there but cannot see it happening in the near future.

I would have thought that in the circumstances Ryanair are playing a big game with the Manchester Airport Group with regards to Bournemouth. Don't forget that they recently fell out big time with MAG and pulled most of their Manchester routes. I would therefore guess that they are saying "yes we'll give you more aeroplanes / routes if you give us a big concession"! Doesn't this sound like Michael O'Leary?
My understanding was that the whole 45 million pound investment was instigated by Ryanair offering Bournemouth half a dozen planes and up to three million passengers by 2015!!! Oh and the small matter of upgrading the ILS landing system to Cat 3! Maybe the goal posts have since moved, but as has rightly been stated already, if the routes don't get loaded soon then it'll be too late!

it's in MAG's hands

If Ryanair pull out of BOH it will be MAG's fault.

Have they (MAG) not learned?

They lost FR at MAN

They lost EZY at EMA

They lost pretty much everything at HUY

They will do the same to BOH if they keep this arrogance up!

If FR are asking MAG for further discounts at BOH, MAG should be handing it to them on a silver platter. In this time of economic uncertainty BOH has been lucky to still retain the schedules it currently enjoys.

They lost FR at MAN
They refused to allow an airline to bend them over, its likely that MAN can do without them.

They lost EZY at EMA
Im lead to believe that EZY pulled out due to other airlines expanding there and squeezing them out, so have they lost out realy considering Jet2 have sinced moved in and replaced them?

They lost pretty much everything at HUY
Since when does losing a few charter routes constitute 'pretty much everything'? Last time i checked there will be growth this year and next... Plus there is the core nusiness on site (helo's, Eastern, KLM) that has not moved.

The 'arrogance' (i would say hard-line approach) is important when making money, there surely must come a point when FR are costing them more than they are getting back in revenue overall.
