Utter shambles. CoD obviously have no idea what's going on with their flight schedules. The website boldly stated that Alicante would be on sale soon. That has now been removed, as has Alicante.

An increase in FAO? To what? Previous levels. Ryanair have treated LDY and their customers like sh!t, and I hope those who are trumpeting their arrival at BFS are braced for more of the same.

Appears to be an extra month for Faro from the current schedule. Used to be June, July, August. September now added as well.

Surely Jet2, Thomson or somebody else will see the potential for an ALC service? FR operating full summer schedules with good LF's for a few seasons at least. Surely this shows the demand is there?

Yes, but haven't Aer Lingus just added BHD/ALC to their services?

Consequently, any further demand may be somewhat limited.

I can't understand how a flight that has run successfully for 9 years is all of a sudden unviable. It appears to be a victim of Ryanair scheduling where it was only run in July last year with June then added as an after thought but no flights for August.

Or perhaps Ryanair are looking at who else is operating it and think the market is getting too crowded so that it might risk a loss this year.

I was on the flight 10 times last summer (commuting) and it was always full. I obviously don't know about the yield though. And even if that was the issue then run the flight once per week instead of twice.

Whatever the truth surely despite Ryanair's pronouncements this would be a good route for another company. Might be a bit late for this year though.

Well I'm still waiting for Citywing's Dublin to Derry flights to become bookable. Citywing successfully applied for funding but I haven't heard anything since.

Hopefully the above doesn't have an effect (unless it's a positive one!)

*edit* I just asked Derry Airport on Twitter about this, and mentioned Ryanair opening a base at Belfast. This was their reply:

@ker_fuffle @Fly_Citywing It is hoped Derry to Dublin service will commence in April 2016. Will keep you updated. #FlyLocal #ChooseCoDA

This thread has got to be the most depressing on the forum and has had nothing but bad news for the past 7 years.

If Ryanair are opening a Gatwick-Aldergrove route, how secure is the Stansted-Derry route ? Could we perhaps see some 'consolidation' for the winter 2016/17 season ?

I still struggle to see how here's such a lack of a market at LDY, when you compare it to EG Knock airport, Kerry airport, both with far worse catchments.

The Derry - Stansted route is in its 17th year during which time there has been BFS and BHD routes to all 4 big London airports and it hasn't really affected demand on the Derry -Stansted route which peaked at 140000 pax pa when there were twice daily flights.

If you need to fly to Gatwick or Heathrow you obviously won't use Derry but if you just want to go to London you probably won't be bothered driving to Belfast if it is further if you can use Stansted.

I think you're either significantly overestimating CODA's catchment area or significantly underestimating IWAK's with that statement. The area of the island for which CODA is the nearest geographical airport is actually quite limited - it amounts to much, but not all of Derry (parts of the county are closer to Belfast International), a small part of north Antrim, the part of Tyrone that is north of Omagh and north east Donegal. Everywhere else would be closer to another international airport.

Interesting to note they have also cut NOC to June-August @ 2 weekly, was March-October last summer and a higher frequency in summer 3 week peak summer.

There will be 10 weekly additional flights ex Belfast/Dublin with EI/FR and possibly some extra from LS ex BFS.

As someone else pointed out still no sign of the Derry - Dublin flight appearing on the Citywing site.

However, they do have a notice on their front page saying that work is under way upgrading their reservations system so maybe they are waiting for this to be completed before adding the Derry - Dublin flights.

Ridiculous statement saying Derry has a bigger catchment area than knock - knock covers the whole west and potentially s large portion of the north west and even across parts of Midlands - Derry has as the below contributor outlined just Derry as a catchment!!!!

It is and I knew that, but for some reason I said Cityjet.

So to clarify, Citywing are starting LDY-IOM.
