The Derry - Stansted route is in its 17th year during which time there has been BFS and BHD routes to all 4 big London airports and it hasn't really affected demand on the Derry -Stansted route which peaked at 140000 pax pa when there were twice daily flights.
If you need to fly to Gatwick or Heathrow you obviously won't use Derry but if you just want to go to London you probably won't be bothered driving to Belfast if it is further if you can use Stansted.
