Not sure whether MOL promising ongoing support reassures to any great degree whereas for the council promises you could be forgiven for being somewhat cynical.
Why will the council not publish accounts for the airport alone including any deals with Ryanair and allow the ratepayers to judge whether they are getting a good deal or not.
I'm sure BFS & BHD are shaking in their boots at this announcement.

I don't think that was the aim.

The comments from Clive Coleman in the Sentinel article seem to be saying 'use it or lose it'...

KLM E-jet in and out of Derry this morning on a training flight.

Crank-up the unfounded rumours machine!

Returned on Sunday to take the passengers back to Amsterdam.

Can the runway at City of Derry not handle a loaded Boeing 767?

Just wondering is this why the Star Wars crew used Belfast International when arriving for their filming in Malin Head and departing for the next chapter in Cork.

They hired the B767 at link below from Titan airways.

Titan Airways : B767

For anyone in the North West, Mark Patterson on BBC Radio Foyle is covering the mystery of the non appearance of the Citywing Derry - Dublin flights from 1.30pm

Also available live on BBC website.

Possibly cost of ( 767 charter to Belfast + coach transfers to Donegal ) < cost of ( two 737 charters to Derry + coach transfers ). Though I too was somewhat surprised.

Yes the coverage was disappointing to say the least. Simply read out a statement from airport in which they state that discussions are ongoing and that they 'expect' flights to start in the next 'few weeks'.

Citywing

New homepage rotating panel has appeared on the Citywing website today, announcing that details of a new City of Derry to Dublin service will appear soon (but presumably too late to get any benefit from a summer season boost). This seems to be their first public acknowledgement that a service is planned.

Yip. Sad times. It's gone from 13 a week in each direction, to 12 a week in total. Having said that, this seems to be part of FR's STN cull. Shannon, Cork and Knock have all had reductions too. Still, they're probably more able to absorb them.

One wonders what the future holds for BFS, post-Brexit.

And also whether we will see the proposed Derry to Dublin flights.

It's been advertised on the front page of the Citywing website for an awfully long time. Still not bookable though!

Just back from a week in Portugal via Derry-Faro

Flight was rammed both ways.

Holiday makers ranged from Sligo to usual Derry Coleraine etc and even as far as Belfast. The Belfast family of 4 said they saved approx £800 on flight costs compared to Jet2/Easyjet/Aer Lingus so the the drive was worth it.

The 'Derry - Dublin flights starting soon' message appears to have been removed from the Citywing website front page.

Unless anyone else knows something different then not looking too good imo.
