Hey all!
Thought I'd let you know about my timeline so far
Oct 8 - OD and AD
Oct 9 - FI
Oct 17 - Grooming email
Now I wait...my status still says 'under review'. Another girl in my group hasn't received the email but her status says 'approval in progres'. Hopefully these are all good signs? Hoping I don't have to wait too long as I'm already driving myself crazy!
Congrats to all those who have received the GC, and for those waiting like me - hopefully it'll be worth it

Casual photos again
Hey, thanks for the help about the casual photos, just to clarify, please tell me am i right or not. So I need to send 2 different casual photos. One of them should be a full lenght casual photo and the other is a face casual photo? Sorry, for the annoying useless questions, but i just dont want to mess up my application, and i should send them today Ps: On my invitation letter for the FI there is something about the sizes, so both of my casual photos should be 10x15 cm? And is that enough if i send them by e-mail or should i also send them by courier as it is written? Many thanks))

I am pretty sure that you need two different casual photos. Not one to be face only. They have that already, you gave them several of those on the final interview. Make them full length. I brought four and they picked two, one was whole body at my cousin's wedding, and the other was from knees up, at some view point on a hill or something. Make them so they can see as much of your posture as possible, and pick those where you look awesome. Remember its not for those two recruiters of yours but for somebody in Dubai who does final selection. Size doesn't matter since you are sending them via email. Emailing is better.

letsgotodubai, "approval in progress" and the grooming email are a great sign! However, it sometimes takes a long time before your status changes again - it took 14 days for me! I know it's hard to wait and I was also starting to lose my hope. Just be patient

My status also changed on a Tuesday and I was clinging to my phone on Wednesday and Thursday, almost went crazy on Friday and on Saturday they finally called me. If there's one thing about the EK HR team, it's that they&re unpredictable! Oh, and congratz, btw

Hi I got a job with etihad and went to Abu dhabi came home the same week... I start with emirates in November, I've also been to their HQ in Dubai which is awesome and have friends who work for emirates.. x

EK Group AD & Possibly Fraudulent E-mail
Hi , I'm so glad I found this forum. Finally I may find answers to my questions.
I applied twice last year (2010) for AD & got an invite on both occasions but once I was told it was canceled (discovered later it was only postponed) & the second time I had family emergency. This year I applied again (like a month ago) for October & still waiting for an invite. Was wondering if I should go anyways (without being invited this time) since I got invited before , is that OK? I mean they say AD is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY but I'm worried they think I'm not taking this seriously now that I failed to attend twice.
Second thing I was wondering about is , while waiting for a reply from EK I got an email on Thursday asking me to send my CV , photos & an education certificate (info I already submitted to EK online) to a private Gmail email account ! Now I understand that Emirates Group email addresses always end in "@emirates.com." & that their recruitment department will never email applicants from personal email accounts such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail. But I was wondering if this email could be from a Cairo - Egypt assigned recruitment agency affiliated with EK. Anyone knows?
Any help/info appreciated. THANKS in advance,

beaverfly means you will be working on A380 or not...
so far it seems like you are on main fleet...
It doesnt mean if the airport close to your home cant accomodate A380's you wont be working on them...
Emirates bought alot of new A380 jets, thats why they are recruiting so much, aswell as alot of 777 on order too...
so you might still work on them, you might not...

with regards to the gmail email... check the emirates website for dates in cairo, normally it states underneath if emirates makes use of a company to do pre screening... if so try to get in contact with that company, i had to do it in SA coz I never got an invite from the online applications... that company might have a gmail account, but did they state the documents are regarding emirates recruitment...?
if no on both counts dismiss the email... you have every right to be cautious
I see now the make use of a company called reach in egypt...
so if you can confirm the gmail is their accont then you should submit by all means.

A380
For those of you who already joined, when did you find out what fleet you were assigned to? My contract only states that my position is "stewardess II" and my basic training starts Dec. 1st for 5 weeks (I was told 7 weeks at my FI) I requested the A380 and am curious when I'll find out if I got it or not :-)

Newyorker, Sabmas: From what I gather from one of the girls who got the A380 email here is that it comes just before you get your visa and ticket (so 1-2 weeks before DOJ)... I also am not sure if it is based on your home as A380 doesn't fly to Singapore...You can always change after a year or two, to A380.
Beaverfly: I have heard of tickets coming just before (3 days) you are supposed to leave. The group who went from here already got their tickets about 12 days before but they had their DOJ changed by 2 days... As long as you have the visa your fine, the ticket will come!

Cant Upload Documents!

Congratulations to everyone on their GC and to those who are still waiting, your time will come they are just really busy at the moment, but am holding thumbs for all of you
With regards to the online portal, is anyone still having trouble uploading their documents? I have been trying to upload my medicals since Monday and am unable to do so.

Dont know if you can check with EK, but try googling the 'Reach' company, otherwise respond to that email, asking what company the are, coz it seems like the stuff a recruitment company would need, and the really might make use of gmail accounts, especially if their own email account crashes due to allot of applicants sending cv's...
but first ask politely, you would just like to know what company it is and why they request your cv, photo's etc...
strange that they did not state it tough...
normally the would go, hi .... we are xyz company doing the preliminary screening for emirates, and would like to request your.....

DOCEMAN: Under No circumstances should you forward personal information, disregard all this idiotic advice given to you if you, check emirates website there is a part called recruitment fraud! but i know they only request this post MEETING everyone at your audition soo do not oblige them, do you really think a company representing emirates would not have access to there own personal email!!!! cmon people 
On another note i just recieved my training workbook, soo hopefully all ready to leave this cold bitter place and expand my wings
looking forward too meeting all you peeps in Dubai 14th Nov......

The medical is fairly simple... I don't have the new one, but it is very similar to the last.
You must not have a blood borne disease such as HIV, Hepatitis or syphilis.
You must have never had TB
These top two are for your visa, there is no room for leeway.
Any pre-existing condition has to be withing normal limits as in if you have high BP..it's under control.
Your eyes can be corrected with contacts if you need them. You aren't allowed to wear glasses.
No serious allergies that require an epi-pen...
Your teeth must have no cavities and your gums must be healthy.
In a nutshell.. You have to be healthy!
I would say go to your doctor and ask him/her if he/she feels you are fit to fly as the last medical required the doctor to sign off on you.
If he says no, ask why and investigate further.
I hope that has been of help...
