Hey Martin!

Mine took a little longer as they requested more passport photographs off me. Have the requested anything more off you? If so once they receive the requested photographs/documents the 3-6 week restarts. That is what they told me when i called to find out.

If nothing has been requested, a friend of mine had her FI a day after mine and she still up until this day hasn't heard back but it still says approval in progress & no news is genuiley good news. Just keep waiting but if it really stresses you our call your HR & try and find out xx

Packing list

What would those of you who are already in Dubai say are the top 10 things we should bring with us?

Does everyone get their own bathroom?

I just got my medical shots.....yellow fever didn't hurt as much as Meningitis and typhoid did :-S

My DOJ is November 14th I dont know what to take or how much time I would need to get everything together...it's exciting but really stressful getting all the requirements in on time :P

A birth certificate is that proof of paper that shows that you were registered when you were born. It shows your date of birth, where you were born, parents names and all.

Guys, I'm sorry if this has been asked or answered elsewhere - I've had a look through but couldn't find an answer...
I understand that Emirates offer an accommodation allowance if you decide not to live in Company Accommodation. Does anyone know roughly how much it is?
Thanks

Just to make it clear, you are checking on your candidate portal page for visa and E ticket, right? They won't send you those in email. So keep checking on your portal page under travel arrangements.
And in my case I got it 8 days before my JD.
Also, I was stupid enough to start panicking right away because I couldn't open my ticket. Google chrome couldn't open it. I needed to use internet explorer. So don't panic like me, just switch the browser.

Accomodation

Hey All

Does anyone know when you get access to accomodation we will be given in Dubai, I know in the travel arrangements it has blanked out visa and e-ticket....But even though it says travel arrangements and accomodation it states nowhere of where and when this will be shown on the candidate portal !!

I know its gonna be straightforward but would like to know.

Cheers

Congrats and patience too all those in the process

Question How long does the whole process take?

Hi pprune members;

First thank you for your replies and help.

second the email turned out to be legit ! Yes it was actually sent from the agency handling preliminary selections for EK and I'm in the process of getting an appointment.

I was just wondering how long does it approximately take from your first appointment on AD up until you get your visa, tickets and DOJ ?

Also , It might be too early to ask but I'm very detailed oriented and I always like to be prepared , how much luggage are we allowed ?

Finally , are you paid for flying hours only or do you have a fixed salary on start-up ?

Hey Doc's

Glad it turned out to be legit, and that you got the ball rolling...

Can only answer 2 of your 3 questions...

So on the luggage part I can't help you, and yeah its an interesting question, would like to know as well.

But on the other two, I asked the recruiter on my final interview how long would she estimate it takes from final interview till joining in Dubai, and she said plus minus 2 months... hope that helps, remember still just an estimate...

And pay wise, you get a basic salary and then flying pay on top of that, at an hourly rate , determined with a chock on chock off basis...

Cheers and best of Luck!

DocEman You've got 50 kg luggage allowance plus hand luggage.

From my experience it took me 2 months and a half from my Final Interview till my Date of Joining, because i needed extra time, otherwise they would have send me to Dubai earlier.

I had my Final Interview on 15 August, got the Golden Call on 29 August and my Date of Joining is 31 October.

Good luck to everyone

Online application worries

Hey everyone! Hope You are having a nice weekend

Let me have a question. When i went to the OD last weekend, I didnt applied online, cause it wasnt an AD, therefore I thought there is no need to do it so. After my final interview I asked the recruiters, that should I update my online profile and apply online for this OD, cause I was on another AD in march, therefore I have an online profile, however I havent apply for this OD. But they said no, I have nothing to do with my online profile. Now I am a bit worried, cause after a week since my FI, there is no sign on my profile, that I was on the OD last weekend, and maybe I misunderstood something, and maybe I should do something with the online application stuff.
Thank you for your help in advance)

Received an email that I was shorlisted for AD but I cannot go

I need help.

I just received an email that I was shortlisted for an AD in Dubai tomorrow. However, due to the fact that I am not based in Dubai and due to work reasons, I wont be able to make it.

I emailed them if its possible for me to attend another AD?

Do you think they would take time to reply? I am happy and sad right now but I cant really attend the AD tomorrow.

Do you think I still have the chance?

OMG. I really dont want to miss this. I know that this is just an AD but this is really important to me.

I need your thoughts on this guys...

Rupess: If you wanted to check your online status, you should have applied online for OD...now its too late, cause you can not apply for your OD anymore...so there is no way you will be able to check your current status from OD...sorry. You should have done it before...while there was still OD listed on Emirates page..after that date it is gone and you can not apply anymore

My friend was in the same situation. You will just have to wait! Hope you get your GC soon!

Online application

Mmm007, thank you for your reply and help I was a bit worried, because I thought I messed up my whole application procedure, because of this imperfection, but Thank God no To be informed via my profile is not that important for me, because I will know the result sooner or later, it wouldnt change anything, but the most important is that I still have a chance without online application) So, thank you again, You made my day better

Allergies

Hello all,

I am currently completing medicals for joining and I did indicate that I have allergies to nuts. They emailed me requesting a doctor's report on this allergy.

It is a mild allergy, and although I do have an Epipen, I usually do not carry it with me, and I have never used it. If I eat nuts, I will have discomfort but it is not life-threatening (unless I ate a huge amount of it).

Does anyone know what Emirates' policy is in this issue? Will this prevent my employment?

I am not interested in opinions. I am interested in hearing from people who have allergies like mine and work for Emirates, or were rejected from Emirates for that reason.

Also, what was your allergy report like (i.e. what did it say, who did you have fill it out)?

Thank you!
