heyy guys ..im new here n i need some help !
im going to an OD in cairo on 1st of december.. i am a pilot, so do i think i should tell them that or not ??
or should i just give them the high school certifecate? or it wouldnt make any difference?
cause i thought if they knew that im a pilot they wouldnt hire me ..they'll think that i wont last there....

Fafi, you go into a small room with 3 or 4 other girls and are given a gown to wear, you take off your clothes in that room and then come out and put your chest against the Xray. They dont watch you get undressed or anything, and its only very quick for the Xray. Its a female doing the Xrays too, so dont stress! I was worried because i had a small tattoo that sits just under my underpants (that I hadnt told them about) but noone was there to see it, so it was okay. If you had a tattoo anywhere else though they would see it, so its a good idea to declare it =)
One of my friends had a nipple peircing in for the first Xray.. the poor technicial had to pull her back in and ask her what it was

As for the 'tell us about a time you went against your boss' question. I was successful with my interview and worked for Emirates. I told them a true story that was from when I worked as a secretary for a Real Estate Agent. The former secretary had taught me how to do the job, however i was worried because whenever a sale happened i would draw up a contract but would never do anything in the accounting system to say that the sale had closed. It seemed strange to me that there were just hundreds of 'open contracts' in there. I went to my boss and asked about this, and he said that I had been doing it correctly and that the last girl had taught me everything. I was still worried so I called our accountant, she came straight over and was REALLY stressed. It turns out that the closing process was REALLY important (the agent could have lost his license if we had have been audited) and we worked all weekend to close the sales.
The interviewer asked me how my boss reacted to the fact I had not trusted his word and I told her the truth, that he was just very worried when he realised how big the issue was, and very thankful that I had taken the time to go further.
Basically I think they were impressed that I had taken the initiative to seek someone higher when there was a problem I wasnt happy with. They dont want to hear that you had a 'dispute' with an employer, they want to see that if there is a major issue and your SFS tells you that its not important that you would go to the purser and alert her/him to it... well thats what I think anyway, since my answer got me through =)

Hi to everyone
I am so happy to come across this forum. It helped me a lot because i didn't know what to expect on open day which is on 1st of December in my country.
I only have a few more questions for the forumers just to be sure.
The open day is far from where i live and also, i have a current job so my question is if i get past the first interview, will i have to stay another day or they will call me back on that?
Also i got an e-mail from Emirates informing me that an open day is arranged in my country and that i have to bring my updated CV along with a photo (doesnt say what kind) and a dress code.
I have read on this forum that you have to take various kinds of photos so now i am not sure what to take
If you have any suggestions about the open day please feel free to write anything that might help because i would really love to make it...

Does anyone know where the call might be coming from? Emirates Office UK ? or EK Dubai/Emirates or unknown? I have few missed calls and simply unable to figure it out

The golden call will come from Dubai, the number will be +971..... Check their office hours and calculate it back to your time zone (Dubai is GMT +4) and you will know what time to expect their call....

2 days or 2 weeks?
Goodevening to all of you, im glad i found this forum it helped me a lot at my FI, 16 days after i received my golden gold and my joining day is on the 15th of january. I have one guestion although that is really stressing me out.
When the lady called me she said that i have to fill up something in 2 days..and something else in 2 weeks! I thought she said 2 days for the contract and 2 weeks for my medicals. But as i read in the e-mail they sent me it declare 'You are required to complete the medical declaration and upload the completed forms on the portal within 2 days'. That means only appendix 2-3 or also all the examinations hiv/aids chest x rays etc?

I am new here and I hope I can get some help!
I registered for the open day of EK in my city which will take place on the 5th Jan 2011, which its location is yet "to be adviced"...They answered me back on e-mail saying that if I wish to attend any of other 2 days that will take place earlier than the one in my city, then I have to bring the documents that we all know ...
I wonder if that means that I can't attend the one that will take place in my city or not and I must attend one of the other days!!! or is it just because the other days are earlier!!! Since that it's not so easy for me to go to the other cities...
I also tried to contact emirates on their e-mail but I got no answer at all!!
Can anyone tell me what should I consider and what shall I do next?!!
Or does anyone has a real contact of EK?!!!

Hi, I'm back, with a question!
I wear eyeglasses, nothing weird, only a "social" frame, with corrective lenses...
When I did my OD, in October, the woman that was responsable for the whole process, asked my to came back with contact lenses to the AD. I explained to her, that I had this allergy from the lenses, and couldn't use it for a loooong time...
I was even thinking that I had failed that day, because she made a "not friendly" face, but I was approved to the AD.
Well, do you know any EK F/A wearing glasses???
Or will I fail at the AD because of it???
I'm really scared about this...
