process

Hey guys,

FI: 22/09/11
Approval in progress: 27/09/11

26/10/11: received an email requesting "2 full length casual pictures".
30/10/11: received another email asking for "2 additional recent photos"at the earliest AGAIN! and no GC yet.

Today is my 6th week, no one else has been asked this, I am completely confused and scared right now... Does anyone what does it mean, or did it happen to any of you guys... I don't know what to think or do about it

Should I call, should I wait ... Can anyone advise, I would be so grateful

Thank you in advance,
Good luck to all of you waiting for the GC
Congratulations to those who already got it and all the best for the future!

what to wear on the flight there and what to not bring

OJUMAN83
My group of fellow acceptancies have been wondering the same thing; If yu read throught the grooming standards required in the workbook apon going to any emirates location there is alot said about buisness atire.. we came to the conclusion that since the chick in the video they gave us had casual jeans and a tshirt on, your pretty safe in most things. I do not think you will be meeting the HR team on the day you arrive and so you do not need to be in buisness atire, since dubai is a conservative country you are well advised to avoid anything revealing, strappy tops or dresses, lowcut stuff ect..
you'l be meeting the meet and greet mahraba team, so I think jeans comfy stuff.. but to play it safe maybe opt for smart comfy.. (like not track pants hoodies, ect..)
just incases..

also if anyone has advise on what not to bring, whats been unnecessary, what you wished you brought.. so i can compile a packing list..

Portal E-mail

Hi everyone

Can anyone possibly tell me how long you have to wait before getting your e-mail that gives you access to your online portal after the golden call.

When I spoke to the lady it seemed as if it would be sent immediately so i did not query that. She mentioned stuff that needs to be sent back within 1 or 2 days, so do not want to wait for the email if i need to submit stuff urgently.

Thanks Guys

BIG CONGRATS

After i recieved my GC it took 2-3 days before i recieved the email, then access to your online portal shall be granted!!

In the mean time book all the necessary appointments with doctor and dentist to make sure you are ready to start uploading documents asap........

When is your start date ???

Family Benefits

Hello,
Can someone detail the benefits that Emirates give to their employees' families? I.E. obviously the immediate family gets benefits in travel etc but do extended family members get any sort of benefits (aunts, cousins, etc)?

That famous Golden Call

Hey Everybody!

Guess what? I've got the GC today. My hands were shaking, I wanted to stand up immediately, and shout YESSSSSSSS, but i knew i need to listen carefully, to follow the introductions. First of all thank you guys for all the info here, ive learned soo much, and im sure I will find more infos about the medicals.
So in sum
OD/AD- 15th of oct
FI- 16th of oct
Grooming e-mail- 14th of oct
GC - 2th of nov

I did not applied online, therefore i couldnt see my status.
The lady on the phone told me i gonna have an email today, if not i should call back the number. Good luck for all who still waiting, I would say i know how hard it is to wait weeks, but i needed to wait only 2 and a half week, but all i could say, never give up, and positive attitude is half succsess

Newyorker212 . My medicals took about 2 weeks to clear, but thats only because I needed some additional paper work from a different state. It usually takes a shorter time Hope all went well for you. have you already started packing etc?

Fey . I sort of understand what your going through. A few weeks after my final interview, I was asked to send two casual photos. But its definetly a good sign

If you havent received access to the portal, if it has taken more than 2-3 days. Call them. Mine took longer than usual so I called and they had got my email address wrong so had to resend it

Good luck to everyone

Pre medical form

Hey guys , need some urgent help. I know it may sound silly, but its not clear for me, should I send back all the pre -emloyment medical papers (all the 9 pages) within 2 days, or only the first page where I need to sign????? I guess only the first page, but i want to be sure.
Sorry for the useless questions.
Thank you

Grooming E-Mail

The "Grooming E-mail" is actually the Image and Uniform Declaration Form, in which you must specify where and how large all tattoos on your body are.

For most, it comes before your status changes to "You will be contacted..."

Hey, thank you everybody for the help, I am going to send back my first page(declaration of health form) tonight, and I will fill out all the appendix's as soon as possible
Flybmicrew, I took literally everything with me. I was well prepared, but I write it to you one by one:
-pasport sized photos (6)
- full lenght business attire photo (1)
- passport copies (2)
- letter of reference (3)- they asked only one, but I wanted to be sure
- Highest education certificates (1 copy of my diploma)
The only thing what I needed to resend was the casual photos(2).
These stuff usually needed only when you go to the FI, but I wanted to be sure I will go there, and I did, you see positive thinking
Good luck for your OD, learn as much as you can before it, and prepare your stuff in time, and wear your nicest smile and you are definitely fly to Dubai
Any further question , pm me

Fluent Arabic

Hi everyone,

Apol if this has been asked before I have looked through the last 10 pages but could not find anything.

The cabin crew vacancy states Fluent Arabic is Essential. However, everywhere else on careers website lists English as the only language requirement.

My question is: Are Emirates only recruiting Arabic speaking cabin crew?

I am from the UK and English sadly is my only language.

The link to the page i am talking about is here.

Cheers

Thumbs down Arabic fluency -East Africa

It doesn't apply to foreign applicants, that's for the UAE applicants/nationals only who do their applications directly to the headquarters in Dubai...I'm sure of this. The compulsory language is English. Hope I've been of some help.

From the look of things, it seems they do not need East Africans for now.I haven't seen any upcoming AD/OD this year, maybe next year.Keeping our hopes.

@ teamcoco & tabbys on Arabic fluency

You may check the FAQ's section and see how they used the term "essential" in answering one of the questions, "Do you need previous experience as Cabin Crew?" They answered, "Previous Cabin Crew experience is a benefit but not essential. In context, what they meant when they said "not essential" was "not necessary" or "not a requirement."

I believe when they say "fluency in Arabic is essential", it means they only consider candidates who are fluent in Arabic. It does not matter whether you're a foreign applicant or a UAE national, for as long as you can speak Arabic fluently, you will be fine.

Kindly share your opinions regarding this. Thank you.
