News article says they will only run 9 routes this summer (down from 16 last summer) because they don't have enough aircraft.

"However, we remain committed to Bournemouth and will operate nine summer routes, including Palma, Faro Alicante and Malta, while our aircraft capacity will increase as we take delivery of 383 new Boeing aircraft over the next 9 years."

Good news is the return of Easy Jet again for next winter 2015/16 to Geneva
It will be the 11 year of operation from BOH with a similar schedule as this year although with no flights on a Tue / Wed again and January will see Monday and Thursday reinstated this season

A mix of A319 and A320 will operate 6 flights a week and a double Saturday flight will again operate

BOH-GLA

Anyone know what the load factors were like on the first Flybe flights to/from Glasgow?

It's good to see the departure board filling up at the summer season starts despite the Ryanair reductions on W-flying due lack of aircraft.

The GLA-BOH flights tomorrow both have 45+ on if the booking engine is correct, which is promising assuming it isn't a one off. Loads going the other way don't seem as good although I expect the numbers will even out when it has operated for a week or two.

Flybe

Seems a bit crazy to have two Glasgow departures on a Sunday so close together - 5pm & 9pm. Are they expecting a lot of Glaswegians spending the weekend?

Can someone also answer me why Bmth-Glasgow always seems to be on airline radars but Bmth-Edinburgh is forgotten about basically? Every other airport in England sees stronger traffic to Edinburgh, so not sure why this comes about.

Euroscot, Gill Airways, Palmair (announced but never went on sale), Buzz (on sale but never operated), Ryanair double daily... Long list of airlines trying the route. I think APD needs to go to help this route work in the long-run and to compete better with the train.

Because Flybe only fly BOH-GLA and not to EDI?

I believe there are two evening flights to GLA because an aircraft flys GLA-BOH Saturday morning, operates some routes from BOH during Sat/Sun then returns back to Glasgow Sunday evening, hence the odd looking schedule. It does seem odd that BOH-EDI is so often overlooked, I would think if GLA and indeed the rest of the new routes perform well then it would be a logical addition along with daily services to CDG/AMS/DUB.

Good load factors this weekend for GLA-BOH around 60%. Not bad considering the route hasn't been going long.

Been having a look all this week and loads from Glasgow to Bournemouth have been about 55 passengers , however going back up the road all week been averaging about 20 which is not good !!

Summer 2016 Thomson

Nothing new at all same as the last 5 years , 2 flights a day in the summer

Surprised there are no new routes such as Crete , Zante , Kos but obviously playing it safe . The loads have always been full from BOH and at eye watering prices as well

Thomson 2016

Yes shame they cannot expand at BOH. Probably not enough demand to base another 737 there, and they probably do not have enough aircraft anyway, but a few extra destinations would certainly sell. Whenever I have used always full.

Biarritz looks like it's selling very well - 330 quid rtn almost full still with 3 weeks to go.

Loads for the GLA tomorrow flights are mostly in the 50's (people not %) according to the booking engine which is promising. Biarritz seems quite well priced throughout the season from looking at a couple of random dates. Deauville is a different story, you can get outbound seats on quite a few flights for around £7.50! I understand the route may be subsidy driven though, as I doubt Flybe ever saw it working by itself, especially 4 times per week. Toulon seems reasonable on the few dates I checked and the city routes seem to have a mix of fairly strong prices near the weekends and rather cheap ones elsewhere. It will be interesting to see what happens with the BOH operation when Flybe release their winter schedule.

The new FlyBe BOH to MAN service seems very competitively priced with seats available at £12.00+. Unfortunately, it costs a minimum of £50.00+ for the return flight from MAN to BOH. Any ideas why this is?

FFHKG,

Reference to you email about Flybe ticket prices. Take a look around the booking engine, you will find very cheap outbound tickets for next to nothing, but the return expensive. Look at the same flights in reverse order and you will have the same story. It in my view lures the customer into thinking they got a mega cheap deal, when in reality the main issue is the cost of the total trip that matters.

That seems plausible EI-BUD, in which case it would probably be more representative to take a rough average of the outbound and return flights to get an idea of where the fares are at, or just look at the return prices.

On a separate note I do find it a little disappointing that Thomson have just copied and pasted this years schedule for S16. It does surprise me that with consistently high loads and fairly high prices compared to LGW for flights/packages that Thomson have not tried to extend their offering from BOH at all. Incidentally EXT seems to have a quite a few flights operated by other airlines on behalf of Thomson for S16.

FFHKG....BOH have a landing charge as opposed to most UK airports who have a departure charge hence the disparity in the outbound/inbound pricing.

AFC Bournemouth: Premier League

This will no doubt help domestic services to Manchester when the matches are on. Perhaps Flybe will need to put on extra services. AFC Bournemouth is gonna need a much bigger stadium before it has any real significant impact on visitor numbers!

The club has already attracted interesting movements to the airport with the likes of Iberia A319 when playing REAL Madrid etc.
