Well that's intriguing. Double daily flights to Manchester?! Wouldn't have though that would happen with Southampton so close by!

This is very interesting news - particularly as far as "I told you so" is concerned.
At the start of this year I posted that there was a possibility of BEE moving from EGHI to HH (inside info.). This was poo pooed & put down as just BEE trying to get abetter deal out of EGHI. Now, at least part of that scenario has happened.
What will really be interesting is whether 'HI starts losing some of its routes. Personally, I can't see services operating in parallel to the same destinations out of 'HH & 'HI.
Time will tell.

Wow ….
What a difference 24 hrs makes from my last post re the airport and Ryanair never saw that one comming , absolutly fantastic news for the airport and public with a wide range of destinations to compliment

As usual there has been a barage of moans to the local paper regarding the drop off fee instead of supporting the airport and getting behind the new routes

The airport always said they would look at this fee once regular services or enough passengers went through the airport so in due course this could well happen with the fee being halved

What the airport needs to do now though is get the road to the terminal sorted out and find a drop off area that suits all , prehaps between the departure and arrival buildings seems to have a large area of space to do this

It could also see an executive lounge being built , plenty of room inside the terminal building , something i think BOH could well do with and probably is one of the only UK airports not having one

All in all a brilliant job in getting Flybe in to Bournemouth and hope now it will be well supported

Assuming Ryanair operate a full schedule next summer, that should be 800,000 total annual pax for BOH in 2015 (most capacity available from May) and 950,000 in 2016 (full year of new capacity).

But there may be other news coming which would push those numbers up.

Well FlyBe still have sun routes to announce for S15. To my mind the obvious strategy for FlyBe would be to lean towards business routes from SOU and leisure routes from BOH.

Flybe Base

Although the aircraft are Bournemouth based I understand that the crew are from the Southampton base. Can anyone confirm.

Regards

Base or no base

Does it really matter? The aircraft will be parked overnight at BOH and will fly from BOH to various destinations with passengers going to/from BOH.
When an aircraft has diverted in from SOU due to mist or after hours, Flybe has bussed the passengers to/from SOU easily enough so using the offices and crew from SOU won't be a problem.

Just like BA using crew from LGW/LHR.

Flybe base

I though it a reasonable question which you have not answered.

Centre Cities - I have read elsewhere that the crew will be SOU based.

Grrr

Nice deal secured by MAG.

Interlining with Air France/KLM and Aer Lingus must now follow?

Two of the four daily flights between bournemouth and Glasgow are operated via Manchester. The direct Glasgow services are operated by a Glasgow based aircraft so there is either a very low utilisation of the two bournemouth based aircraft or there are more routes to be announced

Looking at the schedules, only 1x aircraft is based at BOH. The Glasgow based aircraft will operate some W patterns to the likes of Manchester and Jersey, and will night-stop on a Saturday night to operate weekend services to AMS, TLN and JER

Reminds me a bit of EZY at DSA operated with the LPL based plane and crew operating to an airport owned by the same people who own the large airport. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends after the start up incentives have gone. I give it a season. Good luck.

This will not end without tears.
Either 'HI totally lose BEE ; or, the 'HH operation will come to an ignominious end. My guess is one of the two will go ; &, sooner rather than later !
How can the two airports operate parallel routes to the same destinations ? The mind boggles !
And, with the longer runway at 'HH, how long will it be before the "Sunshine Routes' operate from there , & not from 'HI ?

Flitefone has a great post on Flybe about why BOH may work in complement to SOU.

RE BOH JER this is a daily service with 2 flights on Saturday - 8 flights per week.

Southern France is a good move - Toulon and Biarritz are good fits for BOH and its catchment.

DOL is a strange one - population less than 4,000 - unless it's designed for the fly-drive crowd?

Ryanair 2015

Can someone in the know fill us in on FR plans for next summer? Does the Ryanair based aircraft next summer look fully utilised? Are other airports in the Ryanair network also waiting on Summer release of capacity?

Apologies Centre Cities, you're quite right, I do believe the crew will be SOU based, Thomson have a habit of sending LGW crew to BOH for the cruise flights so it's reasonable to assume that they will be SOU crew.

However, has anyone spotted the irony with interlining/Code Sharing with Aer Lingus to America? This I believe was available with the Aer Lingus Regional/Aer Arran flights last year (when times suited!)
