1. A new scheduling agreement has been negotiated. It is not what the rashers had but is a significant improvement over what the flybe pilots had and much more than the company had initially offered.

2. Yet to be decided - will be merged in accordance with BALPA best practice!!!!

3. Yes - significant uplift or pay protection for most - see nextgeneration website for details. All rashers will stay on current salaries with RPI uplift in April until they transfer to a flybe aircraft.

I am also glad that it is at least sorted. We now work for a company that is at least aligned with it's own objectives, rather than being a very poor, barely related, cousin.

Grrr

Still no mention of whether we can fold our check-lists; that does concern me somewhat.

Spare a thought

Dash , I couldn't agree more.
To the non pilot workforce.
It could be inferred from within these many pages that pilots are arrogant self obsessed and full of their own importance, but I would like to go some way to redress the balance and dispell this perception. This forum is a place where we as pilots can let off a bit of steam from time to time amongst ourselves. We are aware that these pages are viewed by many, not just the pilot workforce, for this reason, today in particular I would like to add my humble ramblings to all.
We as pilots may have mixed thoughts about todays announcement, but the real story today is that thousands of people, europe-wide, (yes thousands) have woken up this morning to the prospect of certain redundancy (many of whom also read these pages).
I would like to offer my appreciation (and I am certain that I speak for all of my fellow BA Connect pilots) to the many staff that have conducted themselves in a highly professional and dedicated manner throughout this stressfull time. BA Handling / Check in / Engineering (engineers and office staff) / Airport Ops management / Ba Connect Ops Staff / Crewing / Nav Services / Rostering / HR / Accounts / IT / Head office staff and many many more, not to mention the impact on our service partners such as caterers cleaners etc. I wish you all the very best of luck for the future.
Pilots (Flybe and Ex BA connect)
I have made my personal decision to leave BA Connect after serving 14 years as a pilot with Manx Airlines/Manx Airlines Europe/BRAL/BACX, I wish there was another way forward for BA Connect but that was not part of the big picture, and so the deal is done.
I wish you all the very best in the future whether in or out of Flybe.

I think so - there will always be the 'it could have been better' mob and sure it could - but it could have been a lot worse too!

Most of the rashers just want to get on with it - those that don't like it will move on in time.

Me - glad to be aboard and have had several calls fron flybe people saying welcome - great

The hatchet has been removed - we are now part of a company that has an interest in its own future - what a breath of fresh air!

Good man Jimbo

Delighted to hear that the deal has gone through. For those of you who will be moving on to a different airline I hope it works out really well. For those of you joining Flybe, a very warm welcome. I sincerely look forward to working with you.

Vman and Anotherspaceman - well said. There are many many people affected by this,it is a sad day for aviation in that BA will no longer have a presence in the regions. Off you go Willie Walsh and make T5 Airways instead, turn the lights off on your way out. However, the merge with flybe will hopefully see a better future for many - they are dedicated to the cause and know what theyre doing in the regional low fares market, and it was this knowledge that BA Connect needed.I hope that the many BAR staff who are affected by this also successfully find employment elsewhere, and not within BA - after the way WW has screwed them over, they dont deserve to continue being treated like $**t.
Good luck everyone, whatever the future may hold for you.

Good luck Ex-Bacon Pilots. 900 hours per year, Shafted every day and crap conditions. Look after number one because flybe won't.

Remember that all the Pilots employed by Flybe are there because they can't get a job elsewhere. Now you lot are part of that well known group of under achievers. Best of Luck Chaps.

Just left head office in Exeter. From what I can gather the deal is not going to happen due to "legal difficulties" What happens to BAconnect now is anybody's guess. I know flybe are more than willing to take on most of the Pilots and even the aircraft but anybody joining will be taken on as new starters. I can't believe Willy Walsh would just dissolve the company but I suppose it would be an option.

Don't companies have to go into administration first before any winding up proceedings are filed?
Suggest you head on back down to Exeter!! and keep your under achieving to yorself.

Thanks for the offer of best luck - I will rely on my ability to get me through.

Moderator - what an offensive little chap you are. So by staying with the new FlyBE I am incapable of getting another job. Grow up and go back to your trainset

To have access to Head Office in Exeter, surely modderator must also be a flybe employee and therefore also an under achiever unable to get a job elsewhere?
crawl back under your stone & shut up!

Don't be so touchy guys. Telling it how it is can sometimes hurt.

Yes I am an under achiever. Anybody that settles for below industry T's and C's when they could do better is no different to me. Period.

Jim French will work you to the bone and pay you the least he can. That's his job. Unfortunately my colleagues including myself have no backbone and we allow JF to get away with it.

Look at what he pays. It's a disgrace. He owns 9% of all the company shares. His staff 3,500 of them, own 10% between them. Work that one out!

Face up to reality. You and I have the worst employer in the industry. At least Ryanair (Another really bad employer) get paid for what they do.

If you hate it so much why are you still there?
Perhaps you can`t get a job anywhere else or nobody will have you

I agree it is likely you are indeed an under achiever. Period.

I however am not and am pleased to have achieved a reasonably senior position which you would probably be pleased to aspire to. I have what I desire including where I want to be and will settle for less for that reason alone!

Now stop moaning about it, put in a bit more effort to help you achieve and the world could be your oyster - or bog off and continue to be a failure elsewhere

Well, at least we now have an answer to the whole "will they, won't they?" issue. What the future holds, who knows.

However, welcome to all the new guys and gals; looking forward to making your acquaintance. Nice cold pint of Guinness for you on the bar in BHD anytime you want it.

Good luck to everyone in the new company!!
I was at Brymon/BACX for 5 years and I can honestly say that the pilots there were a great bunch. Hopefully, now, the frustrations of working under completely inept BA management and imaginitive accounting are a thing of the past and the guys and gals can get back to doing what they do so exceptionally well.....flying aircraft.
Hopefully FlyBE will go from strength to strength and lives for everyone will become stable permanently.
Oh, and should you ever divert to VHHH, give me a shout....the beers are cold here too!!

Brain fade you will find that there has been no investment on new ground equipment for the last 6 years. This lack of investment has resulted in several serious injuries to staff yet it didn't bother anyone down at waterworld. It also doesnt help that edi had BA mainline baggage handlers who are very militant just like there colleagues in LHR and LGW.The customer service side has been short for a while yet the cmpany continued to give us more with less staff. It is the minions in waterworld who have been plotting to exit the regions for years regardless of the impact on the passengers or the business. They are wanting "London Airways" to focus on longhaul operations within 5 years whaich means no shorthaul flights. That will go down like a lead balloon with the many companies who currently have large corporate contracts with BA and require to fly from the regions. If wishy washy is aloud to continue down his current path then BA may find themselves hitting rock bottom before T5 opens.

My colleagues and myself were asking the question " Just what is the endgame BA are working towards?" for the last five years, and slowly it became more and more obvious.

Sincerest best wishes to all the BA regional staff who've worked so hard and selflessly for all these years. It's a sad day and so typical of the corportate BA mentality to lose it's best asset without caring a jot. May you all find decent hobs where your talents are valued and appreciated as they should. Best look out side of aviation though.

To all my New colleagues in FlyBE, thanks for your wishes, I certainly look forward to working with some of you, probably quite soon. The IOM base is glad to be joining you, and a warm welcome is assured to any who come over to cover our operation while we're away training on FlyBE S.O.Ps or Q400 courses. The Cabin crew will be hospitable and friendly too. -Most are taken though!

Best of luck to us all!
