Rightly said PEC
The wait may be excruciatingly long, even a year is not completely out question. Just got to be content with the fact that we are on the list and they will most definitely call us at some point of time.

paramount, mdlr and 360 didn't have many a/c in their fleet anyway, and i'm sure only a small portion of their pilots may have been hired, so i wouldn't worry about that
while i've given up hope that the interview might be anytime in 2011, i'm really optimistic for early 2012, i called up jet myself and they said "no plans as of now"
as far as kfa goes, would their pilots really want to shell out that much more on a boeingTR after already having self-sponsored their airbusTR? may be not!

true, jet does have ATR's, but only 20 of them, of which all the first officer vacancies have been filled up, right now the jet process aims at filling up vacancies for 25 738 orders - 19 for jet and 6 for lite
my point is, as far as the word going around about pilots being accepted from other carriers like paramount, mdlr, 360, ai and possibly kingfisher, it just doesn't seem to add up for the following reasons:
1) paramount and mdlr shut shop a while ago, wouldn't their pilots already be hired somewhere else already, if not why are their pilots being hired now? in any case, paramount had a fleet of only 6, and mdlr had even less - 3! both companies had a non-boeing fleet (paramount - embraers and mdlr - avros). 360, even though still operational, has an even smaller fleet - 2 ATR's (again non-boeing). two questions here - how many first officers could these companies possibly have? very few! even if jet may hire them, they would have to go through a tough selection process, not all would be gladly welcomed! second question - would these pilots, already type-rated on non-boeing aircraft take the trouble of shelling out an extra 20 lacs to be type rated for the remaining vacancies at jet? highly unlikely! clearly this is nothing to worry about, which brings me to my 2nd point.
2) pilots of the other 2 carriers, ai and kingfisher, already being type rated on the 320, would logically try and look towards indigo, the only other airline hiring with an airbus fleet, and expanding at a faster rate than jet might i add. i'd obviously feel more threatened if i was a candidate trying for indigo rather than jet.
hope my points make sense

You're right till a certain point
But if you think of it from another perspective, no pilot would want to be unemployed, so weather it takes 20 Lakhs or a new type rating with a bond, the pilot would know that being unemployed in aviation is a ticking clock therefore would choose whatever comes first, notwithstanding the fact that all airlines are currently hiring for experienced first officers thus options are many.
An airline shutting down also gives them the freedom to apply to Companies in the Middle East / China and far east.
Indigo has enough space for as many pilots weather from AI or KF, as their current pilots fly anywhere from 75-90 hours a month, plus new planes coming in every month.
Jet is a different issue altogether.
People selected in 2008 got delayed by 2 years, feb 2011 recruitment is still pending.
Even though there are a large number of people in wait for the right seat of the wide bodies, still first officers from Indigo, KF and AI with A320 hours were recently recruited, trained and now are almost online on the A330s.
I wonder if anyone protested against that.
So weird things are happening in Jet.

regarding jet
Jet will call us that is for sure but I don't that will be soon now with the amount of losses they posted in the quarter, and they r not alone whole industry again in Red. Hopefully fuel prices come down and rupee stop falling. It is happening the same way what happened in 2008.

yes you're right to an extent - cutting back on employees, but these employees would probably include only ground staff, not pilots at the end of the day, they still have the same number of a/c in their fleet, and are still expanding (not as fast as indigo though), so the number of pilots they have will remain the same as of now, but it's expected to go up as they keep expanding

that's true, i prefer to look at it in a positive way - on the good side we'd have more time to prepare for the interview, and in all honesty the interview is the toughest stage, there's alot to study and to remember i'm definitely not prepared for any interview as of now either

Thank you FL140 and aroumika.
i heard this time jet asked for current IR but only after a person's selection
any idea how much time jet will take to come out with their next vacancy.......
(many ppl who joined in the first recruitment havn't even started their trg and 2011 recruitment is still going on.......)

This is due to lack of availability of TREs & TRIs at Jet. Though there are around 90 of them in a work force of 1200 national pilots & around 200 expats, their workload becomes a problem due to this poor ratio between Tre, Tri, & line pilots. Many are used to fill in line flying shortages from training slots in various fleets, with the Ng fleet having the biggest training backlog for inductee pilots.
The 100th aircraft a B-737 800 just came in. Will start operational flying on 5th Dec. Each aircraft needs additional flight deck crew of atleast 10 for viable operations.
Upgrades to Capt from F/O are on a continuing basis more so on the Ng & ATR fleets where shortages exist. Again this process take around 5 months from selection to line flying release.Vacancies for type rated Capts & F/Os as lateral inductees are open on the above two fleets too.
So where does that leave the fresh inductee pilot? Sadly, on a very low priority basis.

like i said in my earlier post, i don't know why we're so worried about deccan360, which has only 2 ATRs in their fleet, how many first officers could jet possibly hire from them? in any case, the current recruitment process is to fill up vacancies for 25 738 orders, 19 for jet and 6 for lite, not for ATR!
