CAT3_DUAL

You have mislead many impatient & impulsive pilots on this thread who are going through agony of tough airline recruitment GD for first or may be second time in their life as being professional pilots without knowing outcome of their efforts.

Being a fellow airmen, you have shown some help by calming the nerves of those who gave GD or on the verge of giving it....as you claim you have cleared another airline recruitment process or at least refrained yourself from posting questionable info beside deriding other pprune'r.

Aadityaslg is a well reputed user on PPRuNe. He has wastes his time by making question banks of IndiGo airlines written exam(which he didn't managed to clear because of his lack of knowledge)
Instead of wasting time on the Internet go home and please study if not then please go work somewhere dont wast time and money of your parents.
At least he collected questions & compiled in a manner in which ungreatful lots of PPRUNE came to know about what type of questions CAE asks in their exams before distributing it to more than 200 or so .....yes he wasted time of his by making QB's which helped certain chimps to clear CAE Indigo exams......he failed a paid exam but he did cleared Jet one for free...which you could not.So that even out's both of you on knowledge property...isn't it?

Think wisely because CRM in Indigo is given more importance than what you could ever mug from Oxford series.Beware misfit " Attitude Indicators " are not tolerated in Indigo avionics team.

Yes, I totally agree with you airtransporter. Luck plays important role here. & That's, I think, drawback of the Jet Airways recruitment process itself. They are talking about candidates decisions & thinking in Assessment Center, but what they have decided or planned, itself has errors.

the pass percentages seem moderately high for gd, may be around 15-20 clearing out of every 40 per day? may be around 250-300 queuing up for the personal interview by the end of the gd round? just my estimates

could anyone on this thread who has already gone through the simulator session advise on what kind of procedures / approaches / other instrument techniques are carried out during this round and what are the main instruments to be focused on during the same, thanks!

Guys why get tensed on when the interview is gonna be? Just sit and prepare thoroughly for the interview rather than bothering the date. Jet might call you anytime.Last year when written results were declared, GD sessions started within 2 days. So be happy and utilize the time you are getting in preparing the best out of you.

Cheers.

Hi there guys ,
My question is not relating to jet airways interview. Just would like point of view
I have a doubt regarding the DGCA medicals .I have done both my class 2 and class 1 medical. I have had LASIK surgery on both my eyes around three and half years back. My power was around -3 before I did the surgery. Before going to DCGA medical I went to eye test with 4 eye hospitals ( the best one in my city) all declared that I have 6/6 vision. In my class 2 also I was declared that I have 6/6 vision. But in my class one the eye doctor told that I have a power of -0.5(axis -65) in my right eye alone .he told my left eye has 6/6 vision. After which he told me to get a special OCT scan just to check the health of my cornea. End of the day the doc told that everything is fine. But that I have to wear glasses while flying alone. He told that if I would come for a normal eye test he would have not given me glass .he said there is just a minute power in right eye alone and some minute residual power would be there even after Lasik ( he told that normal).
When my DGCA class one arrived 3 months later. My DGCA class one medical says “HAS MET PRESCRIBED MEDICAL STANDARDS. Below this there is a limitations section –this section in blank. Below this that is a section call recommendation. In which 3 codes are given. The explanation for these codes were given at the back.
.33- to exercise the privileges of the glasses with corrective Glasses
.82 – Advised carriage spare set of spectacles while flying
.174- All Review at IAM/AFCME

I have 4 questions
1. I stay in chennai ,India. There is a Airforce base here that does in the renewal of class 1 medical(Senior Medical Officer,Air Force Station,Tambaram,Chennai 600046) . Can do my class 1 renewal here or should I go only to an IAM Bangalore / DELHI AFCME centre.?
2. Does the word review mean renewal?
3. As I have said earlier I have done lasik already . But still the dgca class 1 doctor has prescribed specs for me. When I go for an interview with an airline would I be looked at in a different way for this? That is even though I do better than the other guys in the interview the fact that I have done a lasik am still wearing glasses ,( Right eye -0.5, left eye -6/6 ) is that going to weigh down heavily on me .
4. Are IAM and AFCME medical centers very strict compared to the civil medical centers like Apollo hospital? And where are the medicals doctors stricter IAM Or AFCME ? I like to go to the strictest place possible so that i can clear this burden off my shoulders.
Thanks a million for your time. Cheers

@concorde77
i'm glad you mentioned LASIK, i have a power of -1 and -0.75 which might be comparatively less, but i can't stand wearing glasses / lens, it gets only my every last nerve i might consider LASIK at some point of time in the future if my power continues to increase, so i just wanted to ask you a few questions:
1) is there any procedure to go through with DGCA before going in for LASIK? do we require their permission? how do you go about this?
2) does DGCA have any prescribed or suggested doctors for LASIK or can this be done anywhere?
3) what is the lay-off period from flight duty after a LASIK procedure is done and is another DGCA medical required soon after as well?
4) is there a risk of being temporarily or permanently declared medically unfit due to LASIK?
5) does any airline facilitate / help a pilot in need of LASIK by helping out with the procedures involved with DGCA?

hope you can let me know the answers to these questions, the answers to your questions in short are:
1) yes, under normal circumstances, you would be able to do your class 1 renewal in chennai, with every 4th compulsory renewal done at IAM Bangalore / DELHI AFCME
2) but in your case, as your medical certificate specifies, you would have to do every renewal at IAM Bangalore / DELHI AFCME, possibly because of the LASIK surgery, so yes "review" means "renewal", until your medical certificate doesn't state that point anymore
3) they go by your medical certificate which states that you still have to wear glasses, so yes you would still have to
4) i haven't yet been to either places for a renewal yet, so i wouldn't know

to all the jet candidates: have the gd's been continuing according to schedule despite the heavy rains in mumbai or have there been any delays?

Talking DGCA CLASS 1 doubt

Hi there aroumika
I got my Lasik done long before i did my initial DGCA class 1 or even class 2. So i had no need to inform DGCA.
is there any procedure to go through with DGCA before going in for LASIK? do we require their permission? how do you go about this?
1.If you are currently flying you definitively need to inform DGCA before doing the procedure. If you are not it always better to inform them since you have done your DGCA CLASS 1 already
2. does DGCA have any prescribed or suggested doctors for LASIK or can this be done anywhere
?
No idea but i think they will have people in mind.

3) what is the lay-off period from flight duty after a LASIK procedure is done and is another DGCA medical required soon after as well?
Both DGCA and the private surgeon who is going to perform the procedure would check whether your eye are fit you surgery and only then they would do it. My bud who wanted to have lasik done could get it done because the thickness of cornea by nature was not so good for him. I have heard of a case in IAM bangalore where the doctors became very angry that a student pilot did inform them prior to doing his LASIK.DCGA medical examiner would check your eye only after six months( this was the time period told to me- Since it was my initial DCGA class 1 and i am a student pilot ) from the date of your procedure. If you are in flying currently you would be laid off for three months then the doc will check your eye and certify you fit. Then you will resume service .

4) is there a risk of being temporarily or permanently declared medically unfit due to LASIK?
I haven't heard of any. The technology that they use these days is very very good. But still where there is risk when the word surgery is involved. But is very very low.

5) does any airline facilitate / help a pilot in need of LASIK by helping out with the procedures involved with DGCA?
I dont know for sure . But i dont like airline will help in this. They would is life important procedure that are very essential. LASIK is almost like a cosmetic surgery. The decision on lasik is solely made by you and you only. I know people who have an eye power of -4.5 and are pilots in service . So for your power you dont need to worry much.

Does any one here had lasik and are in service with an airline? Is a lasik candidate have any difficulties compared to a normal candidate wearing glasses with say a power like -2.5 in the interview table?

This is gono be my first CLASS 1 renewal would love to know what are the test done in the renewal apart from the special eye tests in my case?

Also would like a heads up on whether to go to IAM Bangalore or AFCME Delhi ?

Cheers . Happy landings
