@Macarto,
I think you are confusing yourself with the two different medical classification. The Pes status during NS is to determine one's "combat status" and stream these young men into the various category of suitable nature. Skin allergy? Pes C since the boy should not be exposed to long hours under the sun.
The aviation medical is just to determine if one is a healthy and normal individual. As long as you're healthy, most likely you will pass an aviation medical, no big deal about that.
So back to your qns, a guy who has sweaty palms in NS would prolly be in Pes B and can't throw grenades i suppose? But is he healthy and would pass an aviation medical? I dont see why not? So the two medical boards may have similar tests but have little correlation to one another.
@Alvincsj
You can try calling ST Medical and I may be wrong about this - But i dont think the kind lady over at the other end has yet to tell anyone that he/she has failed the medical over the phone. (unless you paid for the medical with yr own money) My guess is she doesnt have to give any explanations to anyone if she tells them they passed. Imagine if the entire world was calling her all day demanding a reason for not passing the medical.

Thanks guys for your quick reply. I really appreciate it. The wait is really agonizing..
@rain84
You said you have alot of friends who passed ST medical, but SIA reject them. May I know what are usually the reasons they got rejected? Like eyesight? Heart? or obese? cos I myself is on the slight obese side, so if kena chop because of this sure is very sian...

I saw a Learjet flew gracefully above me at north western region this afternoon! At first I thought it was the newly accquired surveilance a/c of RSAF. Not sure if it was SFC's, but it's mad beautiful.

I just read about the deal, SFC will be acquiring cessna citation mustangs right. It can't be helped I guess, mustangs are seemingly cheaper than Learjets and we need to cut cost in today's economic environment.

Hi guys,
I'm new the the forums and am interested in learning to fly. Was checking out the SIA website and there were no openings for the cadet pilot course. Is this due to the current economic situation or is there a period during the year when they start recruitment for the next batch?

Hi Rain84,
I just got thru both the First and Final interview, did my medical one week ago, now waiting for results.
referring to what you have said about SIA Cargo and Silki Air being the only one with vacancies, does it means that the next few batches (if I were to get in) will all be for Silkair? Thanks in advance

Rain84,
Thanks for your reply. Keeping my fingers crossed for the medical too, hopefully I can get it. Still hoping for SIA main fleet if possible, hahahahha.. Thanks anyway.
Btw, read that your batch got the news in August. So, I assume you guys are going for the 18th Sep OBS?

We have not received our contract yet, juz met the chief pilot of Silkair... he assured us he will push for the sep 18 obs date... there is some administrative issues cause sia is having a ban on all recruitment now.. main fleet n silk air both got their pros n cons... depending on how you view it... but anyway, a chance to fly is already a bonus

Rain84,
Thanks for the headsup on the situation inside SIA now. Good luck to you, hopefully you will be packing for OBS soon.
As for me, I guess I better start looking for other jobs for the time being instead of waiting for SIA's reply. Thanks man..
Happy Flying...

guys...ask anyone in the SIA group right now and they will tell u SilkAir is the place to be....the management seems to be doing something right, their cadets get checked out as First Officers 6 months before the mainline or worse still cargo guys even start their sims...so if u get Silk, thank ur lucky stars..captaincy in 6 years and rated on a plane that'll get u a job with almost any airline....looking back, i wish i put silkair as my first choice!

@bobmarley, here's something for you to feel better: Many other major airlines want pilots with wide-body experience. Cathay, emirates, etc. You're not getting that from SilkAir. Just so you know

the Mafia Boss who seems to be in trouble these days, still controls his goons, and it's all rigged. You have to kiss XXXX to get there and stay there. No offence but it is true... or invest in Golden Key..

It's true, SilkAir is the place to be as you'll clock sectors faster hence upgrade faster. Plus you'll get to fly and be type-rated on aircraft types that are in much more demand in the aviation business ie the A320 series as compared to the B777 used by the mainfleet.
Cheers!
