From a pilots point of view, Saab 2000 every time. Beautiful to fly, quick and great in a crosswind. Engineers and accountants were less enthusiastic though.

For Cat III maybe, but for Cat I, poorer or fewer lights equals higher min viz to legally attempt the approach in the first place.

Not unusual really, they’re all pretty active on LinkedIn.

As for eco credentials, the ATR is more fuel efficient than the Q400 for not that much time difference on U.K. domestic routes.

It’s coped pretty well with everything the Northern and Western Isles have thrown at it over the last 15 years so it should be ok. Cross wind limit is only slightly less than the 2000.

Loganair made a loss in the year that Flybe/Eastern tried to do them over on the Islands routes (although it cost both of them considerably more), otherwise they’ve been profitable for some time.

Not quite that much sadly....

Max 8 weeks for insolvency cases (subject to success at industrial tribuneral) and capped at £525 per week, less tax and NI.
Best outcome for the staff is definitely some sort of rescue package....
