I don't know how much they are going to ask for a 737NG type rating but I can expect not less than £20,000...

Most of them are not RVSM compliant,so in Europe you can climb maximum to FL280,which is not very good to avoid bad weather specially during the summer.

I believe you need a complete new type rating...

I believe you need a complete new type rating course to fly on the 737-300 because B737 100-200 and B737 300-800 are separate licence endorsements according to JAR-FCL1.
