;)...maybe a complete electrical failure is something that happen very often on a modern widebody like the 777-300 ER... People are not very excited about it. After all it wasn’t a BA or Qantas 777...

A tail strike is easily noted by the crew/pax seated at the aft of the aircraft and surely may be reported to the pilots.
After such an event a mandatory turn back is the safest course of action,...

Futhermore it would take at least 15 minutes do glide from FL310 to ground, plenty of time...
