Gee this thread became popular all of a sudden!
This strip is more predictable than the last one.
And this one is for Arnold E
J
Had a great trip, caught up with 185Skywagon in Coober Pedy for dinner and with Beachie and Tonkat in Charleville .........and lived to tell the story!

Hey there Jaba
Good to see that you made it around your Westward wanderings and that the machine went well.
Even if the gadgetry looked like it had you stumped at one stage
You looked busy so i didn't interupt - catch you next time.

The Beaver was filmed at Lake Hood airport Anchorage Alaska USA. its the float plane and gA airport atatched to Anchorage Ted Stevens international airport.
Its the MOST amazing place in the world for light aircraft buffs. Do a search for PANC and you should get the details.
There is a good bar their to watch them from too, as also in Vancouver to watch the float planes there too.
On the other side is all our 744's and MD11 freighters.
It seems like everyone north of Seattle has a beaver on floats up there. Amazing. They really know how to fly them. maybe not this one though!! hahahha

and Wannabe........ you ding dong, you need to keep up lad! Watch them video's again......apart from a few structural differences, like the LOW WING and a bar in the centre of the windscreen , I think the panel should give it away, no Jab I know of holds up "all that Junk" as Tinpis would say......... nor do they TAS 161 in a fit! ............and trust me I should know!

A blistering tailwind at FL150 enabled a non-stop flight of 1300 nm from Geraldton WA to Parafield SA in this single engine normally aspirated aircraft. TAS was 168 kts, Fuel flow was 12.4 USGPH @ 2400rpm and 16.2" MP, with about 18 USG in the tanks at Parafield.
What sort of aircraft?
What sort of aircraft?
I am surprised the Ovation doesn't do better than that!
Had the FTDK at FL150 on Monday:
2400/18", 160 TAS, 12 gal US/hr
A few less horses than the Mooney!
Just curious - with winds like that, why did you not go higher?

At the risk of getting boring, here are some photos from this evening and these are in focus!
Flash on
Flash off
Skywagon185 - still some snags with the aircraft, mostly in the avionics + 6 cylinder recalls due, but otherwise it is a beautiful machine. Climb performance is unreal with the black mac/550 combination. The aspen has been great so far. Only problem with it is that it doesn't dim down enough at night, but this is apparently on the list of things to be addressed with the pending software upgrade (due this month I think).

The Ovation has 280 hp - how many horses does the Bo have under the bonnet? From the performance charts I was at around 50% power (OAT -5) and to achieve maximum range I slow the aircraft down to increases the tailwind component of total groundspeed. Another 100 rpm might have got a few more kts but I wanted to arrive with intact reserves.
I'm not happy flying much higher - using a nasal cannula for 02 delivery, I find my blood O2 saturation trends towards at or below safe levels when operating at FL170 and above, and I can't be bothered using a full face mask.
I use a Contac CMS-50E Pulse Oximeter to display blood O2 saturation, pulse rate and sine wave of the heartbeat, and has a recording and download capability.
