No, not gonna watch. Why would I offer precious seconds of my life to listen to their bloviations?
I will observe that for them to come and kill Americans, they first have to get through Sarah Palin, and her heavily armed buddies up in Alaska, if they intend to make a border incursion somewhere near to where Russians can get to American soil. :} Given how well their Specialsky Operationsky has gone in Ukraine, they are doubtless keen to start another one. :ugh:

Funny you mention that, given how more people have died in the last three years in Tigray region of Ethiopia (right next door to Eritrea) than have died in Ukraine since February. And they are at it again. That truce back in March didn't last. UN fails again.

Glad we got out of the ABM treaty when we did, and all of the UUankers who bitched about it then are shown to be the fools.

One of them is reporting ukrainian armor has been spotted in sereda villiage, belgorad oblast

Hi Lonewolf, I read somewhere that NVA tactics towards the end of the Vietnam war in regards to aircraft was that every soldier just pointed their rifle straight up and let off a full mag. With hundreds or thousands of soldiers doing that the chance of an aircraft flying into an unaimed bullet was increased. Maybe the Ukrainians could try that.

These Russians are not to be trifled with..

No wonder there was a shoot out at a training unit.

Untrained mobilised Russian soldiers are being held prisoner in a basement in Luhansk oblast after refusing to go back to the front line.

Following a bloody defeat near Lyman, they found that their own side had stolen all their personal equipment.

Why the Kerch bridge is so important.

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1...007892992.html

The Southern front: colored in blue the main supply lines and in yellow GMLRS ranges, which force russia to unload trains far from the front.

Now we're gonna have a closer look at the three locations in the purple pentagons:
• Volnovakha
• Kerch
• Syvash

9/n https://threadreaderapp.com/images/1px.png
The railroad from Donetsk to Volnovakha (colored in orange) is unusable. It's in 120 mm mortar range (yellow circles) and in L119 105 mm howitzer range (green circle). Where the railroad is closest to the front it is even Javelin range - no train can pass here. Not one.

This means the ONLY way for russia to supply its 70,000 troops on the Southern front is by rail over the Kerch bridge. russia neither has the trucks nor the drivers to supply its Southern front by road. There is only one lifeline and it runs over two bridges and if ATACMS
12/n
takes these two bridges out - russia can't hold the South.
Especially with winter fast approaching - because soon russia will not have to transport food for 70,000+ troops, millions of liters of fuel, 100s of tons of ammo, spares and supplies to the South every day, it will
13/n
also have to supply 100s of tons of heating material every day. russian forces in Kherson on the right bank of the Dnipro are already running low on ammo, fuel, food, spares, replacement tanks, etc. because the bridges over the Dnipro have been taken out by GMLRs. But those
14/n
are just 20,000 troops and trucks have to drive only 100 km to pick up supplies - imagine what happens when it is 70,000 troops, 400+ km of distance from rostov-on-don and it is winter.

This is why russia's dictator and his goons are so scared of ATACMS.
15/n
The Kerch railbridge (in red) is a 227 m tied-arch bridge... two ATACMS and she is gone, as attacking ATACMS weigh almost a ton and hit with Mach 4; and then they detonate 215 lb og high explosive.
The bridge will not survive. Even if she would not collapse into the sea, no

Why there was no locomotive on the burning carriages on the bridge.

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1...177432581.html

3/ Yuri Kvashnin recalls what happened: "When we approached the arches of the Crimean bridge, we heard a bang with an explosion, at first we did not understand what happened - our locomotive "jumped" and the light on the bridge went out immediately!
4/ We looked out the cab window and saw that the tank was on fire near the tail of the train! We had to act! To be honest, at that moment we were not thinking of ourselves at all, the main thing in our minds was to eliminate, to put it out, not to let the fire spread!"
5/ The train consisted of 59 wagons, they managed to detach 25 wagons. The weight of the train was about 4,000 tonnes. But for the professional and concise actions of the locomotive crew, the consequences could have been more tragic.
6/ Nobody panicked, nobody wasted a second and they acted according to their instructions.

Yuri Kvashnin remained in the cab to control the instruments and apply the brakes. And Viktor Proshin, according to instructions, stepped onto the track to visually assess the damage. https://threadreaderapp.com/images/1px.png
7/ He saw that part of the train could be saved and reported the situation to the driver, after which it was decided to unhook the burning cars.
8/ The railwaymen realised that not only did they have to take the surviving part of the train to a safe distance, they also had to secure the burning fuel tanks so that they would not roll off the bridge towards Taman, which could cause even more damage.
9/ "I can still see it all before my eyes! We realised that we had to divert the full tanks, otherwise there would have been a worse picture. We had to run from the locomotive to the wagons several times, the shoes are still heavy.
10/ Each time I got as close as I could, secured part of the train, the rest were taken away. It took us 10 minutes," says Viktor Proshin.
11/ "Do we consider ourselves heroes? No! God forbid, of course, but if something like that had happened to the other crew, they would have done the same thing! What other way is there?"

U.S. considers HAWK air defense equipment for Ukraine

WASHINGTON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - The United States is considering sending older HAWK air defense equipment from storage to Ukraine to help it defend against Russian drone and cruise missile attacks, two U.S. officials told Reuters.

The HAWK interceptor missiles would be an upgrade to the Stinger missile systems - a smaller, shorter range air defense system - that the United States has already sent to blunt Russia's invasion.

The Biden administration would use the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) to transfer the HAWK equipment which is based on Vietnam-era technology, but has been upgraded several times. The PDA allows the United States to transfer defense articles and services from stocks quickly without congressional approval in response to an emergency.

I’m grateful to my 🇪🇸 colleague Margarita Robles for the decision to send 4 Hawk air defense systems to Ukraine. It's quick response for 🇺🇦 request at #Ramstein 6.

There are more Hawks on the way.

Today air defence is a priority not only for Ukraine, but for all of Europe.
🇺🇦🤝🇪🇸

Rotax Engine Found In Iranian Mohajer-6 Drone Downed Over Ukraine (msn.com)

An engine designed by the Austrian company Rotax was discovered installed in one of Russia's Iranian-made Mohajer-6 drones that went down over the Black Sea earlier this month. Rotax says it has launched an investigation into its engines powering Iranian drones. The delivery of such hardware to Iran violates European Union sanctions banning the export of items with both civilian and military purposes, such as vehicle parts. Identical sanctions are imposed by the European Union against Russia, as well.Mohajer-6, which you can read about in detail in this past War Zone feature, is just one of the types included in a larger order of Iranian drones that Russia began employing against Ukraine in September. The Iranian government has categorically denied that it had anything to do with the delivery, which is a farce.

Rotax is an Austrian subsidiary owned by Canadian company Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), which is known for designing the engines that power snowmobiles, watercraft, motorcycles, aircraft, and a significant number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Perhaps most famously, BRP’s Rotax aviation engines are known to power General Atomics' MQ-1 Predator and Israel's Heron drones.
More on Herr Flicks tank factory visit. Ironic isn't it, they can't get parts now from the west, which includes the electronics etc, so production has slowed and it is the officials fault because of sanctions imposed of the country due to the poisoned dwarfs actions..

Russia's Medvedev Threatens Defense Industry Arrests During Tank Plant Visit (msn.com)

Dmitry Medvedev, a former Russian President and ally of Vladimir Putin who is currently Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, has made implicit threats to bring officials from the country's state-run defense industries up on criminal charges for failing to meet production goals.Medvedev drew specific attention to the potential consequences of failing to meet contract requirements during a visit to the country's main tank plant in Nizhny Tagil today. This comes amid reports that Russia has been digging deep into stocks of Cold War-era tanks that are virtually antiques to make up for the decaying readiness of high-tech armored vehicles and staggering losses in the fighting in Ukraine.

Medvedev described his visit to Nizhny Tagil – which he said came at the direction of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Putin – in a post on the Telegram social media network. This was accompanied by a short video showing T-72B3 and T-90M tanks are seen in various stages of production. The T-90M, examples of which have now been captured and destroyed by Ukrainian forces in the course of the conflict in that country, is the most advanced tank currently in active Russian service.

Pre or post tensioned concrete - allows the sleeper to be slimmer and lighter and uses less concrete.

Precast Sleepers

Concrete sleepers are produced in two basic shapes, Monoblock (that run transversely and support both rails) and Twin Block (one block under each rail with a steel tie-bar between). Monoblocks may be pre-tensioned or post-tensioned while Twin Blocks are reinforced. Pre-tensioned monoblocks are widely used on railways in the UK, having first been introduced as a replacement for the traditional wooden sleepers in the 1940s.

Pre-tensioned sleepers are manufactured using the long line method, with between 25 and 75 moulds in the line. Originally all pre-tensioned sleepers were made with wire but strand is now more commonly used. Typically the concrete used has a final strength in the region of 70 N/mm2. The necessary fixings are cast into the sleepers for fixing the rails.

Post-tensioned sleepers are cast with a duct into which the post-tensioning tendon is inserted after demoulding. When the concrete has gained sufficient strength, the unit is stressed, the tendon anchored and the duct grouted. This form of construction is more expensive than using long line pre-tensioning, but is suitable for small volume production.

Twin block sleepers consist of two blocks of reinforced concrete to support the rail and containing the fastening system, held to the correct gauge by a steel cross bar. They are generally made with a dry low workability concrete.

I was more interested in the way the rail appears to have fractured - with little or no bending deformation. Suggests to me rather brittle, low-quality steel in the rail.
