As much as the invasion angers us, it is something to see young contract soldiers trying to help their companion. Doesn't make up for the murder and torture but it does add some humanity to the fray. Now if they were home in Russia, then the unpleasantness would not be such an issue. As always, the troops are shooting at each other, instead of the madmen that made this happen.

TASS has listed the aircrafts participating in the Victory day parade in Moscow.
The usual suspects are there, mostly everything is Soviet era except for the Su57. What is highlighted in the article is the patriotic act of MiG29's:
"For the first time, eight MiG-29SMT fighters will fly over Red Square in flight order in the form of the letter "Z" in support of Russian servicemen - participants in a special military operation in Ukraine," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The Armata tank is supposed to present itself too. In 2015 it stalled and had to be towed away, although even that didn't seem to work out.

So, despite the rumours of Putin having the V-Day parade in Mariupol he lags the courage and sticks to the Red Square.

Me waiting to see if someone got a MANPAD near Moscow . . . .

Looks like another normal day south and west of Ukraine on Flightradar 24 right now. One Global Hawk (FORTE 10) out of Sicily stooging around in the middle of the Black Sea, an RAF RC-135 Rivet Joint cruising the Romanian/Ukraine border (on way home probs), and an E3A Sentry AWACS doing circuits less than 100kms from the Polish/Ukraine border, not to mention the US C-130 that just took off in Romania heading northwest. They are all there in plain sight, out and proud with transponders on.

And this is just what you can see by randomly floating your cursor over plane symbols. Nothing unusual, I suppose, but it is real time.

Brimstone Capabilities

Anti-ship Brimstone can certainly sink a fast inshore attack craft, even without using a warhead. (Trials were done a few years ago.) In the development programmes, ground launch comes before air launch, though using unprepared launch sites has probably required some further work.

This reminds me of Hitler moving decimated divisions around as if they were still fully functional on his maps, as the Third Reich crumbled around him and Berlin… one can only hope he follows suite and ends up the same.

The Drive has an article on them and the heading picture looks like they are mounted on a simple frame bolted to a deck, something that should be easy to knock up and fit to a vehicle.

Ukrainian forces have liberated village of Ruska Lovoda close to Kharkiv. This is one of the biggest suburbs of Kharkiv and also means that Ukraine once again holds the Kharkiv - Belgorod highway.

This gives hope that the tide is turning.

I would hope their losses were more than 1 in 10 !

The Ukrainians have taken out the Lyman-Raigorodok railway bridge across the Seversky Donets. This severs the railway connection with Lyman, which is at the centre of the fighting for Donbas.

That chip shortage is affecting other weapons systems as well . Some people are not going to get new cars or trucks this year if the chip shortage doesn’t get sorted . Re-starting a production line that has been shut for six years will present unusual issues with Covid to make new missiles might be a challenge . Toshiba has a few fully automated factories that could do the work . I wonder if they would be allowed to bid on the contracts .

they don't use commercial grade electronics you know. Mil spec is much more expensive and will get supplied.

And the Lord did grin, In Russia in Tver, 110 miles northwest of Moscow, the local administration put up "Z" propaganda stickers to support the Russian army, and they quickly faded in the sun to show the colours of Ukraine.

We should be giving them to Ukraine to do what the weapon was originally designed to do. Be used against massed armour in a fire and forget mode.

I doubt the “minibus full of nuns” dilemma would worry the Uranian’s much at the moment…
