I can't see the rationale for this being a false flag. If they wanted to escalate in some way, the Russians have plenty of other pretexts already. Makes perfect sense for it to be done by / on behalf of / for the benefit of Ukraine though; now is exactly the time to keep the Russians guessing, and encourage them to spread their forces more widely.

My (second hand) understanding is that they are genuinely Russian nationals (to give Ukraine (im?)plausible deniability). I doubt that either they (or the Ukrainians) genuinely believe that this operation will initiate a popular uprising in Russia though they would be delighted if it did. The aim, I'm sure, is to divert Russian troops from Eastern and Southern Ukraine in advance of the upcoming offensive.

A Russian military optics plant appears to have self combusted, I bet they never saw that coming..



As has the Kursk Tractor factory spare parts too

At least the Russian regional governor of the area has told everyone not to panic etc...
