My understanding is that the MAGURA V5 is autonomous which would suggest targeting by algorithm with potential target silhouettes held in the onboard database. Allowance is presumably made for attrition during the attack so it makes sense to me for them all to be aiming for the most vulnerable point. Assuming the video is genuine the 2 CIWS, which are/were capable of engaging surface targets seem to be trained fore and aft so the attack was a surprise. Presumably no active visual watch using night vision equipment, which would seem very lax given recent events..

You can see the heat signatures of at least two crew members standing on the bow during the attack. No evidence that they were shooting that I could see, but possibly they were.

Another significant chop at the supply lines to Crimea and the southern front.: This ship could carry 10 MBT and 350 troops or 500 tonnes of cargo. Aiming at a single target or part of a much larger, longer on-going operation to cut off Crimea ? .Waves of attacks ( mostly airborne, but a few small-boat raids ) taking out radar stations, ( on- and off-shore ) C+C centres, Black Sea Fleet HQ ( x2) over the last six (?) months.

Perhaps members of the Forum might like to consider raising British public awareness of the 2nd anniversary of the Special Military Operation?

Langley Towers will carry a very large UKR flag, also Church with ribbons etc. 23Feb or 24 Feb ......... depends on definition?

As to the attack in the Black Sea, glad to see that my hours of ship recognition paid off (all those years ago) .
As soon as I saw the picture (had not read the text yet) my thought was "That's a Russian amphib,Ropucha class"
(IIRC the gun position was the giveaway)"

It looks like that the newly to Ukraine delivered GLSDB missiles are already in use. Russian channels share this video which apparently show a tail section.

The operational range of these missiles is 150 km (90 miles).

Hope we soon get confirmation of that alongside some photos/video of smoking/burning Russian ammo dumps, radar sites etc

Let's hope it's way below freezing, that makes it a bit more difficult.

This is the first operational employment of a hypersonic cruise missile system. These missiles were likely drawn from Northern or Pacific Fleet stock. It indicates that vessels of the Black Sea Fleet have received Tsirkon integration, likely the Admiral Grigorovichs or Buyan-Ms.

A bit "off-topic", though this dingy does not sound that good for the US its carrier-based supremacy. Fire a couple of them to the mothership and it goes down to the bottom like Russian warships, having zero defense options against the Tsirkon. Could become pretty costly, losing both the carrier as well as its airplanes, having no place to go for landing.

I don't know the difference in effectiveness between a hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile and a hypersonic ballistic missile, but UKA ground-air systems have proved that they can shoot down the latter, so we definitely shouldn't accept Putin's sales talk of "unstoppable, invincible " weapons.

Couldn't Biden preposition extra vehicles and weapons in support of NATO in the likes of Poland, build up a veritable stockpile of Bradley's, Patriot missiles, Stingers, Ammo etc, then if and when the budget is sorted, simply transfer them across the border into Ukraine? That would at least cut down the transportation time.

Within an hour of the announcement Australia announced
Australia will contribute AUD 50 million to the International Fund for 🇺🇦Ukraine, administered by the 🇬🇧UK, directly supporting the procurement of priority military capabilities.
So imagine a substantial amount is going to end up in the drone program .
