Shame they have insufficient arty and air support. They must have that area well zeroed in. Plaster it as the enemy advances.

Why should this be NATO's game plan? I think it is more the problem that too many Countries have reaped too much of peace dividend over the last 30 years and are now so short on stuff that they are reluctant to give away their own last stocks. Cue the discussions in big European nations about their amunitions stock lasting for max 1 week of real war. That is probably why supply is rather slowing down. Excess stocks have been given to Ukraine, now everyone is down to their core arsenal. And production of new stuff takes quite a lead time. Everything Military was switched from Serial production to manufactory (Rheinmetall currently producing only 70000 Arty shells per year in Unterluess, that is a one weeks throughput of Russian Army at the moment). Going back to mass production takes time. Looking at the European manufacturers I expect signifcant ramp up only next year.
US being the only real exception. They are purely stuck in a political skirmish.

I agree with @henra's assessment. Our politicians grandstand on the world stage but have nothing to back up their rhetoric. Makes one wonder what will happen if Putin continues his advance into Ukraine despite the brave efforts of its citizens.

Think all the armchair warlords and russians-by-spirit from Nigeria would greatly benefit from knowing what russians themselves think of the bloody meat grinder that is Avdiivka. Not the officially aligned propagandists. The real people...

This is separate to the 3 yesterday…

WOW

DENMARK WILL TRANSFER ALL ITS ARTILLERY TO UKRAINE

Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, gave a statement in which she made clear her country's commitment to the definitive defeat of Russia. "Leaders of European countries often talk about problems with weapons production, citing them as the reason they cannot increase aid supplies to Ukraine. However, they are now opening new defense companies for the future," stressed Frederiksen.

The PM added that discussions at the Munich Security Conference did not sufficiently emphasize the urgency of transferring the weapons it now needs to Ukraine. "Ukraine is asking us for ammunition and artillery now. We, Denmark, have decided to transfer all our artillery to Ukraine.

So, sorry, friends, there is military equipment in Europe, it's not just a matter of production. We have weapons, ammunition, air defense systems, which we have not yet used. They must be delivered to Ukraine". Denmark was invaded by Nazi Germany on April 9, 1940 and until the end of the war in 1945 it was under occupation. Thousands of Danes died during the five years, they know what it is like to live under the oppression of the invader, they know that Russia needs to be stopped now! .

Russian losses trying to take Adviivka, if the Ammo hadn’t become an issue it would have continued to be a Russian killing field.

Sadly, Ukrainians run out of ammo before Russia run out of meat. The peace dividend went one bridge too far.

Rheinmetall started building itīs new ammo plant on Feb 12 this year. Initial production will be 50000 shells next year. 100000 shells the year after. Eventually reaching 200000. Russia manufactures more like two million shells a year. Is it too little, too late?
