It should be pointed out (and I'll do it) that the production cut was 2%, about 2 million barrels/day. With some OPEC countries not producing to their quotas the actual cut is in the range of 800,000 barrels/day, less than 1%. Having said that, I don't think they should have done it. They certainly look out for themselves....

Note he is saying they, the Chechen military, will take action in other regions and republics within Russia itself….

Chechen deputy Adam Deilmkhanov threatens all students of Russian universities with consequences if they stand against the regime. This is quite unheard of given he is Chechen, indicating increasing influence of this party in the country.

Collaborator teacher in temporarily occupied Berdyansk complained that Ukrainian teachers during online classes teach pupils sabotage, inhumane values, and how to "beat the Rusnya [Russians]".

Excellent article, which fits with earlier posts about the reasons for mobilisation and why it is being resisted in regions such as Chechnya.

And to follow the above….

It definitely seems that there is a power struggle going hot within the Russian govt/elite right now, centered on Sergei Shoigu, the minister of defence, and Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of Wagner Group.…

I really can’t figure the Russians out. They are getting either pushed back or pushed out on multiple fronts, but instead of using what they have left on the enemy troops they have just fired missiles into an apartment building. What makes it even more bizarre is the apartment building was in the city of Zaporizhzhia… the capital of one of the region just annexed! So in their eyes they just targeted their own civilians?

Creates the illusion of fighting the enemy - even if that isn't what is happening in reality - so much of the Russian military effort seems to be about showing those higher up the chain that they are doing their job regardless of how effective they are at it. 'Look how many missiles we fired today sir' just don't ask where they went!

A national character built on bravado and machismo - why Putin does all that topless horse riding and other stunts - its all about face saving and whatever smoke and mirrors have to be employed to achieve that is fine by them.

Definitely staged; I can't imagine that after the experiences of the last few weeks - being encircled, targeted by HIMARS and munition dropping drones (aviation content) - any Russian soldiers would have any white underwear left.

Unless their APC had recently been upgraded with the white goods option.

Firing on enemy troops means getting inside the range of the artillery and counter-fire radars, and also of being bypassed and overrun.

Much easier and safer to stay in areas they aren’t and she’ll those who can’t fire back….

Just as well they didn't go commando...

That is a pretty well-disciplined takedown in a high-risk situation, gotta hand it to the Ukrainian forces, they were ready and no one went rowdy. Patdown was efficient and without any abuse.
These are professional soldiers of Ukraine's forces I wonder or just darned well prepared.
Reckon the quartermasters in Russia will be getting a run on longjohns, non camo.

European Parliament: EU should give Ukraine more tanks, fast-track its membership.

The EU countries willing to deliver Leopard II tanks to Ukraine will be reimbursed from the European Peace Facility, said European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, according to France 24.

Metsola has also called for Ukraine's "accelerated" entry into the EU.

"We have a country that has shown us its intention, and overwhelming willingness to join, and surpassing expectations and meeting goals that other countries would have taken months or years," she said.

Correction adding correct linky.

Anyone read this as Putin trying to find a way out of the war??? A sort of softening of his stance and setting up the Russian people for news they might not like? A realisation he is screwed.

"In the prisoner’s three-man tank crew, all three were from different units...The prisoner, a paratrooper, was the driver. The commander, was a mercenary from the Wagner paramilitary outfit. And the gunner was mobilized from the occupied Luhansk region."…
