With the Eurostar trains unable to operate, transport planners were looking at alternative and more historic ways to complete the Channel crossing. But once again it seemed hardly worth it.

Well... it might, but we'd know it was a fiddle.

Excellent entries so far....some more 'worth it' than others (d'ya see what I did there....Mr ..Haul?) Leaving it for final judging (come on NutLoose...there's more!) until early Christmas Eve. Who's going to be Christmas number 1...of the PPrune caption competition. Open to all...including 'TCT' or Sir Jock Strapp......or c'mon Bungling Bob, give us all a larf for the festive season!!

Air Vice-Marshal Sir Hardly-Worthitt DSO DFC & bar (most likely earned at The Rose & Crown) surveys the scene of his latest war game, a re-enactment of the Battle of Walter’s Ash. At the time this photo was taken he was considering sending in his secret weapon code named ****e Hawk in a final push for victory. He regards war gaming as his favourite pastime however some of his close friends feel he is obsessed and must have a nut loose.
Ok I’ll get my coat ……. Merry Christmas fellow Pruners!

See I told you it would work, we forget the damaged bridge on my right, We raise the flood defences along the areas in front of me where I have added them, then we march the school kids across the ford and Workington is back together, that way we can save a fortune and pray the press move onto our next blunder before they see the flaws in our cunning plan..

Utterly...Utterly....Brilliant!!
You know, sometimes it can be a bit depressing reading some of the bitchin', back biting, pompous and arrogant utterances that pass for 'comments' on the PPRune pages.......however, once in a while, you lot come good and provide much merriment, tongue in cheek banter, and a hearty dose of excellent old-fashioned humour......BRILLIANT!!
Over 30 responses to 'Bungling Bob' and his toy soldiers......and all entirely worth it! Hope you've all enjoyed the entries as much as I have - but very difficult to judge.
Honorable mentions must go to:
Longhitter's
VitaminGee's
Roadster280's (simple and very effective)
However....Top 3 for the Christmas Number 1 spot (cue the 'Pick of the Pops' soundtrack...)
in 3rd position:
Buster Hyman's
...at Number 2 (and only very narrowly missing the Top Spot) is
Shlonghaul's most excellent
and thank you for the promotion!!
However......there can only be one winner......with 5 separate entries (including the one with the amended picture showing the results of Bungling Bob's cuts so far) the winner is....
NutLoose with his pithy and biting
Sir, I salute you, and pass you the baton of providing all with the Christmas 2009 picture.
To all - may You and Yours (wherever you may find yourselves) enjoy a Safe and Very Merry Christmas and a fruitful New Year! Take Care, H-W.

Hey, Bob! Have you been dubbed Napoleon coz yer don't know yer a4se from yer Elba?
"Where's me 'elicopters?"

Bob in his final days in his secret bunker emulates Hitler by moving around his imaginary armies whilst blaming the fall of the country on everyone else

Wow thanks, Will be away over Christmas so here goes... If it has run it's course and I am not back, can I please ask SL Hardly-Worthitt if he would not mind adjudicating again......
As Political Satire seems to go down well, here is another opportunity, but this time from what was the "other side"............ Enjoy
Allow me to add
Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year to you all where ever you may be, both home and abroad, Stay safe OK.........
We all appreciate what you guys and gals are doing, although we do not show it all the time
