3% is written on the old contracts "at EK’s discretion". Like other colleagues have said, in the last decade has been hit and miss (more miss than hit).

On current contracts they don't even bother writing it so no, there's no loyalty incentive and no payscale anymore. You can perfectly spend a decade or two on the same salary. Gone are the days of Captains with 55000aed basic salary.

Thanks aussiefarmer, I didn't realise that the pay steps have been removed from the contracts!

there is always things which have and you realize only because you need it.

i can remember that once got a new medical card and it suddenly said „referral only“

don’t Sound bad right - but it is - because I had to go to emergency and they told me cannot treat me because I need a referral from a ek doctor or I pay - yes in the emergency

Is it common to wait a week for a reply after the online MS interview? I did my interview last week and it went really well but I haven't received an invitation or a rejection. From what I read here and on LPJ it appears that most people get invited to Dubai within hours from finishing the interview. Is a long wait usually a sign of not being invited to continue?

Thanks!

Hey Aviator!!
Congrats for your interview and I am sure that everything will be ok.
just wondering about the interview process. I’ve an online interview invitation for next week.
Any reference to get ready for that? The interview it self for ATP questions or just for that one’s we can find in LPJ?
Thanks in advance!!

It's just like described in LPJ.
ATPL technical questions take place in Dubai during day one, either before or after the SIM during your advanced compass test.

For the uninitiated, what is LPJ? When you say technical questions, are we talking ATPL exam level? (Which I could hardly answer then)

LPJ is a website (latestpilotjobs .com). They sell assessment preparation packages for different airlines and pretty much everyone who goes to an assessment for a major airline ends up using it at some point. It's pretty useful to prepare for the Saville test you do at home and the Advanced Compass Test that you do in Dubai. It also has a dedicated forum for each airline.
Yes, by tech questions we mean ATPL type questions. In LPJ there's a question bank.for that.

What are the waiting times to hear if you are successful or not after completing assessments in Dubai? I know some Boeing guys heard after a couple of weeks, but Airbus guys are waiting longer.

All tickets can have a maximum of 6 sectors.

Cat C, whilst a firm ticket, is subject to availability which is tough at the moment. If no seats available, it becomes an expensive standby ticket.

They are interviewing people and courses are starting all the way to next year. But at the moment they're only conducting short type rating courses so you need to be rated in modern Boeing or Airbus FBW to be assessed (you can still submit your application).

They mentioned they may or may not resume long type rating courses in the future but they also said you can still apply without these requirements and your application will be in their system in case they change their criteria in the future. Check their careers website. Every now and then they conduct online presentations on MS Teams where they explain these things and people can ask questions.

Heard EK is not giving out housing allowance as an option, and we need to buy a property there to get the allowance. so do we need to actually buy a property in Dubai to get the housing allowances? How much is the housing allowance?

That is correct. For now you only get the housing allowance if you own property in Dubai. Looking at the rate at which villas are being built this might never change back to being available for people to rent.
I don't know if the exact amount has changed but a few years ago it was about 16K aed/month (Capt) and 14K (FO). Utility bills are on you in this case.

Medical Staff

I have not been able to find any relevant forums for the Emirates Clinic for staff. I was hoping someone could give me an idea on what grade doctors / dentists are recruited?

Hello All,

Forgive my naivety, but 30k AED with no increments doesn't seem a lot to convince someone from a reputable European airline to move the the sandbox? It's not exactly the big money I'd expected Emirates to be paying to convince people to move out there? Am I missing something?

Cheers,
