Should I leave my present job as 787 Captain to join QR?
After being furloughed since Jan 2020, I finally managed to gain employment in Jan 2022.
Pre-covid, I was working in China and was home based in Europe through a reverse roster. Salary then was quite good, average of 300k annual (80-90 block hours per month) after tax and good travel and medical benefits too.
Presently I work for an Asian private airline on the 787. Averaging 100k annual after tax. Travel and medical benefits and below standard, however working conditions are fine.
I am due to attend a QR interview in Doha in July. I can foresee having to fly quite a bit more than the 50 block hrs I am doing presently for 8.5k net. Working conditions where I am are very good.
My intention to join QR is for the better renumeration and travel and medical benefits compared to where I am working now.
Mi would appreciate anyones opinions. Thank you very much.

Loss of licence does not exist in QR anymore.
Staff Travel works fine, you won't be able to use it a lot as you'll be working 110-140 block hours every month but it works with many destinations to go to. Working conditions poor, estimate of about 90% pilots wants to leave. Usa pilots pretty much all left. All south Americans have applied for green cards. Europeans looking to go back to their previous jobs at Ryanair etc...
Airline turns into loco carrier with some meals being removed and asking staff to pay over 200 usd for mandatory suitcases.
I'd love to trade for your job!

Hi there,
Could you share any information on your assessment?
ATPL tech info, only if you have it, or can share.
How was your SIM? B787?
How did you feel you were treated?
Any advice really, will be appreciated lots.
I'm on email [email protected] if it's better.
Cheers, and good luck as you join
See you there

Medical Benefits at QR are generally poor also, most of the treatments are difficult to get refunded. Healthcare at Qatar is rather poor also as they don't care about your health only about your wallet. Not uncommon to do multiple tests and get extensive boxes of medicine for a common cold...

Fatigue in QR? No, becouse of the ...statement!
HAHAH so funny.
Bad guess. Qatar Airways make their own FTLs, they OWN the QCAA. They do whatever the f*ck to get what they need from you (blood and sweat). >1180 hours per year plus 200 hours of (unpaid) deadheading (also in economy) are REAL horrors. In your logbook it shows only around 700 hours due to their hour factorisation. Sleeping in the bunk doesn't count towards any block time.
READ before you apply (aka sell your soul). Otherwise you just deserve to bend over like one of their goats.

What fatigue???
Qatar nicely issued a "Statement on Pilot Fatigue Management"! :
http://www.qatarairways.com/en/press...Press-releases
- Fatigue reports are always treated extremely...
- Any pilot who reports experiencing fatigue is automatically removed from a flight and given a 24-hour rest...
- The Company has never refused to grant a pilot a rest period if they experience fatigue...
- Contrary to what has been stated, we welcome fatigue reports from pilots. We are acutely aware that cultivating an environment where employees feel able to raise important issues serves to ensure the continued wellbeing of our workforce, and the safety of our passengers.
- No pilot has been adversely impacted professionally following submitting a fatigue report...
- We are committed to ensuring our employees’ wellbeing and note that many former employees are returning to rejoin Qatar Airways in the coming months, including several hundred former Qatar Airways’ pilots...

As a result everyone just flies dead tired.
The people raising fatigue issues in the medical department and frms have recently been removed. Problem solved.
It's just the tip of iceberg, join and find out how much more is there for yourself!
