Should I leave my present job as 787 Captain to join QR?
After being furloughed since Jan 2020, I finally managed to gain employment in Jan 2022.
Pre-covid, I was working in China and was home based in Europe through a reverse roster. Salary then was quite good, average of 300k annual (80-90 block hours per month) after tax and good travel and medical benefits too.
Presently I work for an Asian private airline on the 787. Averaging 100k annual after tax. Travel and medical benefits and below standard, however working conditions are fine.
I am due to attend a QR interview in Doha in July. I can foresee having to fly quite a bit more than the 50 block hrs I am doing presently for 8.5k net. Working conditions where I am are very good.
My intention to join QR is for the better renumeration and travel and medical benefits compared to where I am working now.
