This is the new way that Ahmed the Liar is using to avoid poor publicity. We are not renewing your contract is better than you are sacked. People who have given exceptional service have not had their contract renewed. Just when I believe EK can’t get lower than a snake’s belly, they find a way. All the best to our poor friends and neighbours that we left behind. The company never deserved them.

not if your contract is not renewed - that’s equal to volunteering resignation means 1 more month on 50 or 25 whatever CC has now and than halas

Same as the tactic of a years unpaid given across the other side of the road.
If you can afford to live for a year unpaid then you ‘might’ get kept on, or you might not. However if you can’t afford the year like many Cc cant you resign just to get the EOSB and survive. The company keeps all that EOSB cash in the bank till you cant survive and resign or the year passes and you find out what the true story is. The company also avoids the poor publicity of making thousands redundant, if you need the cash you resigned, you were not made redundant.
With Emirates if a contract is close to reviewable just let it expire. No full pay and no bad redundancy publicity plus the staff member works till the bitter end.

IN GF, for ages, ex-pats were on three year "renewable" contracts. No messing. With first contract and renewed contracts, closing statement said ; " Thus, on ,-----------(date) will be your last working day with the company. Weeks before that finality, contracts was usually renewed. On it went for decades. Then, guys insisted on "permanent contracts" . None of this three year nonsense. Job for life eh ? Company agreed and they all got "permanent " contracts. ER, three month's notice, either side. Job for life went to a three month security. Clueless clowns still thought they had a better deal.
Too long a sad story but dear ole mate of mine was transferred to a new type, late in his career. GIven a ONE year contract but a THREE year bond. Just gorra larf at the whole sorry business.

Hopefully this whole debacle will serve as a reminder that a job with EK is no different to working as a contractor. We are employed out of necessity rather than choice and in a country where we have limited rights, along with no union and depend on a three year visa to live and work.

Funny you should say that - during my time with EK, at my yearly reviews one of the common issues that kept coming up was that I still thought like a contractor and that I should stop acting that way as I was now in a 'permanent secure position'..
Good luck to everyone who stays or leaves - it's going to be a tough few years whatever you do.

Call it what it is folks: At EK you are neither a contractor, permanent employee, or even an employee. You are an undervalued hired help treated with great contempt who is as disposable as toilet paper. They simple don’t care anything about you and anyone who remotely think they do is simply stupid! Remember; EK knows the cost of everything but the value of nothing!

So unpaid leave triggered again. The September 1 to November 30 option now.
this also means the reduced salaries will probably extend beyond September 30 now.
any update on how many CC let go off last week?

Does anyone know the total amount of pilots that have been made redundant on both the Airbus and Boeing fleets? It sounds like EK have purged about 75% of the airbus crews.

Full basic salary reinstated from October 1st. Accommodation, Education and Travel Allowances all cut by varying percentages!
Very pleased to see the full basic coming back though...
