Is it not obvious?

Banana,

I’ve always stood up against paying for TRs or P2F I’ll have you know. I’ve had opportunities to pay for them and turned it down. I say again: paying 30k + for a 6 month contract on 16k is not smart nor clever. Those here justifying it as their only chance are unfortunately showing their Inexperience. Less than 500 hours on type isn’t going to help at all, you’ll have to pay for an LPC and then you’re up against fellow rated guys for the next assessment who will probably have a lot more experience.

If Ryanair were bonding cadets and this was a direct full time employment contract then I expect you’d have a lot less anger shown here. You would think it’s not a lot to ask, so why are they not doing it? Ask yourselves...

Wish at least once you could quote something correctly, cauase it's 16800 EUR and its just the base salary. Plus you get 12 EUR for each block hour, and most of the guys are rostered for around 80 hours in August, which adds up to 16800/12+80*12= almost 2400 EUR. So if you could fly like that for 6 months you, I suppose that you can calculate how much that is as you salary, but let me calculate it for you! 14400 in 6 months. I'm not saying that that's a hell of a lot of money, but way better that what you are talking about. So instead of spreading , you'd better just mind your own business, cause obviously you don't really seem to be an appropriate info at all... p.s. 2400 for line training as a junior FO is not bad at all. Just for your info. if these cadets will join BUZZ, and believe me they will, because there are no RYR pilots sitting home, they will earn a lot more, since BUZZ didn't touch the pay at all.

If you think getting paid 14.4k in six months after spending 30k on a type is ok, you are what's wrong with this industry.

Such arrogance!

Id say it’s a pretty good investment long term.

A temporary 6 month low pay period during line TRAINING is a small price to pay when the pay after training is:

Junior FO: £45k
Senior FO: £60-70k
CP: £100-120k

So many entitled guys on here… as an SFO in RYR you earn nearly as much as a GP, for essentially what is an easy job most of the time.

Let’s do the math hotshot:

Out

30,000 EUR TR
5000 EUR security pass, uniform, living expenses.

Total 35000 EUR

IN

14400 - your calculation.

NET

- 20600

If you feel like this is how professional pilots should be treated then that’s on you. I’m simply not happy about it so standing up for our profession. Losing 20k to go to work for 6 months is simply not how it should be. What are you going to do if they don’t offer you a full time contract after line training? How will you repay your training debt nevermind live?

Buzz didn't touch the pay at all?

Buzz lowered the guaranteed minimum hours to pretty much ZERO hours during the pandemic, essentially leaving many people with NO income at all. And guess what will happen again next winter?
If you think you will fly 80 hours a month for the next 6 months you are living in cuculand.

You are assuming there will be another lockdown. Chances of it happening are not that high. There isn't a single country in continental Europe that could afford another lockdown.

This is exactly why our country is pushing so much on the so called Green Pass.

I disagree. I was lucky I joined a company that paid me 2700 euro net just to do a couple of CBTs in the first month. Type paid for. Let's say that Ryanair is far from the best company in the industry when it comes to this.

I don't like to talk negatively on Ryanair because I don't have anything against them (I would join them in the right base when things pick up), but they have lowered the rates in Buzz as well and the guarantee pay has been pretty much slashed.

When things pick up, and they will, and the normal pay is restored the Buzz contract can be quite profitable if you don't mind being a contractor.

This assumes THAT they will move on to an employment contract after the 6 months of training, and onto a contract with pre-Covid conditions. Both unlikely.

The TR plus training contract is plain and simple a Pay2Fly program. After your 6 months are up you are out. Next cadet please.

And your assumption is based on what exactly?

Do you work in Ryanair management? Sounds like guess work to me.

The cadets have been told they will receive their permanent base and contract within 4 weeks of completing their line check, which will happen.

Im assuming you think the same will happen to Wizzair cadets, as they will be hiring 500 pilots a year until 2030, with 300 being hired this year?

If Europe doesn't return to the destructive lockdowns or travel restrictions there will be many opportunities next year, probably better than Ryanair. Wizz seems to be starting recruitments as well, more will follow.
It all depends on what will happen this winter. This is the reason why we have been saying over the last months that you should not rush to apply for Ryanair's cadet program. If lockdowns are applied again your 30k will be gone for nothing because you won't be flying. If not, better opportunities will show up. Be patient and let's all hope for the best.

I believe there are pilots from Flybe, Thomas Cook, Emirates and Qatar also waiting for better opportunities.

Dashcam,

You are beyond delusional if you think the new cadets (or current crew for that matter) will see those salaries in the next years if ever. The suicidal "emergency" agreement that was signed last year gave RYR cart blanche to pay (or not pay) as they like. And thats what they have done ever since. I.e. I flew a near exact amount of hours this july as last year, and lost and additional 18% salary, because they have this new "daily rate" BS. I've been in this hellish company for over 3 years, never made even close to those amounts you listed, even before covid.

I think RYR have finally done it, they made sure that being an airline pilot is no longer a viable career option, but more a hobby for those who have other streams of income or those who enjoy working forced part time, not being able to get a mortgage in their lifetime. Myself and many, many others in the company are actively retraining, pursuing other career fields. The only way this company could ever turn around if via a targeted strike from the training department, with demands including MOL, EW, DH. and all those other pieces of utter scum leave the company for good. But no, we signed that we will not take any industrial action as long as the "emergency agreement" is in place, even though there is still €3B in liquidity in this company as of today.

Good luck everyone either in the company or with the maniac idea of joining this company, brighter horizons await outside of this industry.

Suicidal? Tell me what happened at BA, Virgin, easyJet, etc.

In easyJet you were fired if you were not married and had children.

Only in Germany, in accordance with the local law. That's the only country where jobs were lost in easyJet.

I'm not going into detail about those companies as I don't have their specifics, but to my knowledge the staff that was laid of is mostly coming back on line, and an appropriate pay cut was put in place, rather then completely abuse the situation. But the big difference between us and them is we have billions in the bank, Ryr could have easily topped up furlough for all crew to 80% salary for over 2 years without borrowing excess amounts or risking there current liquidity and the workforce would have actually been able to come through without being forced into financial misery, sever depression etc.

But no, ryr did not top up furlough, or made any additional pay top ups (except A/L) days, so really, what is the difference between "working" for Ryr and being laid off if they don't pay you anyway?
That agreement is the single most shameful document ever signed and a kick in the teeth for anyone who is/wants to be a pilot in ryr.

Please note this rant is only about the financial harm being done, lets not start with the 100's of cases in the recent years of RYR threatening/ persecuting staff for calling in sick (completely disregarding and just culture and putting even more stress on the already worn out workforce) or the fact those sadist will make sure you will never be at a base you want unless you know the right in HQ.
I'd rather never fly a day in my life again than to keep working for the Irish mafia, but hey, enjoy your line training, hope its worth is!

Has anyone done the online pre-assessment recently? Any feedback (especially regarding the ATPL test and video interview) would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Who cares what the job pays... Being a Ryanair YouTube star makes millions. Rich kids who can pay to fly, already have money, so any salary is just pocket money. Normal people with passion to fly and make a career have been pushed under the bus.

Normal people with a passion to fly were pushed under the bus in the 90s when the flying instructor route was closed off and people started self funding the approved course.
