A new ballot would have to be open around three weeks. BASSA will have to give a week's notice of action after it's result. Basically a strike will not happen until a minimum of four weeks after the new ballot opens.

Unite have changed their position saying they will re-ballot if current negotiations are unsuccessful -not an automatic re-ballot.

No, you'll be OK. The ballot takes about 2 weeks to organise, about 2 weeks to carry out, and at least 7 days notice need to be given to the employer. That makes the earliest date for the next "strike" to be end-Jan, and they won't hold it then as there is a court case about the substantive issue in early Feb.

A new ballot would take at least 3 weeks to do - plus time off for xmas/new year etc - and any strike would be at least 7 days after that.

First week of Feb then.

And thats about the same time as the court case.

Lets just hope that all those that voted yes to "send a message to Willie Walsh" now realise that he won't back down and if they vote yes again, they ARE voting to strike!

To all those that are still booked with us, may I wish you all a fantastic trip and a very Merry Christmas!

Yes, I am sure they intend to ballot but will they?

Now the cabin crew know what a strike means, I think we will see a somewhat reduced majority if they do.

I think the Unite chairman should send Willie at the very least a case of champagne for getting them off the worst PR disaster I can recall.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the BASSA 100% supporters are going to spin this one as a win.

JimTom,

I can only guess injunction is a nice bit of PR for the company.
If injunction granted, I will be eating my hat for breakfast.
Can we have some pictures please? I would finely chops some shallots in with it, and saute with some butter and garlic and a sprinkling of wasabi. That way it won't taste so bitter.....

GS-Alpha,

I'm looking forward to seeing how the BASSA 100% supporters are going to spin this one as a win.
Obviously it's a "negative victory"

First week of Feb then.
... and it won't happen then as they can't afford for it to clash with the court case which is what the strike is about anyway.

Exactly the outcome I predicted a couple of days ago. I am slightly surprised by the ruling. I think the judge also took the ridiculousness of the strike itself into consideration.

I think (and hope) that most crew are actually relieved too.

I would love to be able to read the crew fora now...

I do wonder how much of a victory this will be for BA though. They've already lost a lot of business, and with a second strike ballot hovering over them who's going to book with them?

I'm a passenger. Wasnt affected as not flying at Xmas. But have to book a flight in February - And no chance it will be BA given the uncertainty - the damage to BA going forwards will be great until the situation is solved one way or another. Its a victory with a hell of a price.

I'm still v concerned about death by a thousand cuts. If the BASSA muppetry can still control the lemmings then uncertainty reigns supreme throughout the early part of 2010. Uncertainty will further erode BA bookings from an already withered postion.

The only hope is this. Sufficient lemmings will see, in the coming days, the lamentable state of their union leadership. Amateurish, childish, spiteful and SELF SERVING in the extreme. Malone, hang your head in shame.

Injunction Granted

Thank God for that. Now, let's hope that wiser heads prevail and you can rebuild trust with customers.

I'm self employed, but I don't work for myself, I work for my customers.

Cabin staff don't work for the airline, they work for their customers. Customers make pay day possible.

Who do the union work for?
