Congratulations to "Dave from Kenton" who obviously felt himself a well enough informed BASSA member to ring Simon Calder on LBC and ended up looking like a complete idiot (blaming fines for losses, claiming WW had a pay rise etc etc). Crewforum go on about "informing" people, what they really mean is not informing people of anything that doesnt fit their own world view.

Ref seniority, there are little perks, such as choosing "good renumeration routes"...

Interestingly, the worldwide cabin crew don't get to choose the high earning routes and in that respect, seniority is irrelevant. Equally interestingly, it is often the case that the same people are seen on these routes on a regular basis.

Have You?
Shame you didn't take the time to find out how your cabin crew colleagues are allocated work each month in that time.
Bar request trips which are 1 or 2 trips a year that we can actually request - although there is no guarantee we get them, at BA we have supposedly a totally random rostering system which is designed to spread the good/bad trips amongst the cabin crew. Which doesn't explain why I am constantly hearing from flight crew and other colleagues why the same people are always in the high allowance destinations.
month after month.
Hence the strong statement about stealing from the pockets of the rest of us.
Not really - I just want my fair share of them.
I have been with BA a "long" number of years

That is life. From your age profile, you are from the "Thatcher Generation" where they wanted the good things now!

One of them being is having good contacts with the people in Scheduling which could also explain, again, why the previous Scheduling Manager was suspended and brought into investigation!

Human Factor
I stand corrected
Meal Chucker
My Pprune name might give a clue to my job in BA, reply as above for Human Factor.
I think you missed the point there. My Point
was that alot of people are jealous of what others have.
Smacks a bit of Socialism to me!

Some corkers to be found in the "Joint Newsletter" and "Factsheet" that can be found on
. COST SAVING TALKS PAGE
including the news that Istanbul is a band 1 (actually, it's a band 4) and
That would be the flight with one meal service and two drinks rounds (the latter one "if time") in 4.5 hours.
Finally
looks to be entirely bogus, not least due to operational issues.

Band 4 there and back - Currently we receive an extra crew member as these are such hard work, this will no longer be the case.
Finally
● New Routes - All new routes will go to the new fleet.
● New Aircraft - All new aircraft will go to new fleet.
● As new aircraft will go on our premium routes, i.e. SIN, HKG, JFK,
you will, in the very near future never get a chance to fly, to these destinations.

The biggest misstake BASSA made : not giving a monkeys about LGW crew. Now it's come back to bite them - LGW crew are showing BA that they can achieve the same customer satisfaction with virtually the same product delivery for 60% of Heathrow's cost.
What was BASSA thinking letting this happen???
Having said that, I think 99% of you will agree that BA's LHR CC cost base has to be tackled to be competitive. It's always horrible to see people lose money and career prospects , but if you look at any other department in BA (flight crew, engineering etc) they are all within 10-15% of the industry standard wage for big carriers in the UK, while BA cabin crew take home nearly double the average take home pay of VS crew.
I know this applies to a minority at the top of the seniority list, but looking at the figures you will agree something has to be done. A 2 year pay freeze isn't going to solve this problem.
Good luck to all crew in making your decision with the ballot. If I was one of you at the moment I wouldn't be happy with either solution..

Its always amazing to see how one sides blinkered opinion can be rolled into a massive emotional beating stick and I mean that for both the BASSA/Unite side and the management side.
I have it on good authority from a member of personnel management at Waterside, who is a good friend, that the happy clappy session never took place. The same as the company never paid for the goodbye drinks for the VR pilots. However, as is always the case for the gutter press, never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
The BASSA newsletter strikes me as being full of spin, rhetoric and untruths complied together to raise the blood pressure prior to the issue of the Strike Ballot. An aim that I sure it has achieved. BASSA has broken down the BA figures but never, ever given a detailed and sustainable breakdown of its own £178 million savings figures. They fail to discuss the issue that the company wants long term measures as the business is restructured and the BASSA stance was that they want any savings back in two years or there is no discussion! A stance they held on to throughout the 'discussions'! As to the Unite/BASSA edict at the end of ACAS, of course they were moaning, they didn't get their ways as they weren't willing to discuss anything apart from temporary measures. Their stance effectively left BA with no choice but imposition.
IST is and always has been Band 4! Get it right cabin crew union!
Should be fun to see what the ballot causes!

Are the "Thatcher generation" and Thatcherism 2 different things ? Love her or hate her Margaret Thatcher's biggest banner was that "people should be buying things with money that haven't yet earnt". A pole apart from having the good things now !

I see that the madness commences afresh with the announcement of a ballot. Over on the crew forum they are celebrating a victory because 'BA didn't think we had the guts to go to a ballot'. I'd have said BA expected a ballot all along. There's also a hysterical rant against a prominent City commentator who had the audacity to suggest Walsh might be doing the right thing. Apparently he's a BA insider who gets money and perks from BA and is only trying to demotivate cabin crew. I bet thats news to him. And his lawyer!

its like "lambs to the slaughter", I really feel for all the crew that dont want this and want to take their new part time contract and VR (about 6000 of them i beleive), that will have this offer removed if the union call a strike !!!.
Im sure common sence will prevail most of the BA crew i have spoken to are feed up with the Bassa rant and lies, and just want to get on with the job they enjoy in the company they are proud of !!.
I was recently told by a crew member, that was taking VR, "if the others dont like BA and its proposals, why dont they go like me, we have had a good ride but that and this industry has changed now"
Wise words i thought !!!!

My thoughts exactly, especially when they realise they won't be able to get home for Christmas! At the moment, they're all getting excited at the thought of turkey sandwiches on the picket line! Words fail me....

Hmmm, I wonder how the delightful Ms Malone is going to cope with the staff travel withdrawal? Its going to be quite costly to keep it all going from LA isn't it? But then she has never had too good a reputation at keeping meetings has she!
But then, of course, BASSA will have kept their membership fully updated as to the legal ramifications of industrial action with respect to the long running, all aspects covered, nature of the proceeding negotiations (!!!!)
It is a very, very treacherous path that BASSA tread, one that I fear might end up with a lot of pain for their members through no fault of their own.
To the BASSA reps and 'tub thumpers', you should be ashamed of yourselves.
To those who view the current situation with amazement and anger, I feel truly sorry for the way your union has treated you. Perhaps now is the time to put the BASSA monster down and start up new representation which might actually understand the meaning and nature of the word 'negotiation'?

Words really do fail me now. The attitudes of some crew is astounding.
However, do anyone have an idea as to whether management will go to the courts asap or after the ballot?
The so-called newsletter we got sent in the post is even Halloween colour coded! And it's so full of lies that I can't take it seriously at all.
I've got to go and have a strong drink I think. Brandy all around then?
Gg
Ps. Quite a few crew (so far) think it's a good thing that the share price has gone down
