Hawk eye, thanks for your insight.
As stated before I and a vast majority of crew DO NOT want to abolish the bidding system, we simply need some major changes, such as capping!
The majority of senior crew are not lazy or selfish, they are only taking advantage of system that exists, actually when it comes to flying with crew I find the senior crew in GENERAL very professional and hard working! I did say in GENERAL !.
We certainly don't want a system like they have in QANTAS UK or the bases, I would rather keep what we have than have no bidding system at all and be at the mercy of the corrupt schedulers!
This is where some people on this forum misunderstand, we want changes to the system not to abolish it.
At the moment we are talking about the selfish minority that are hogging up all the desirable trips, but I clearly remember the JFK slips, I never got a look in as it was always the same people doing them, they simply moved to regular LAXand SFO. One was not enough, they had to have it all!

I have to say, having experienced both the seniority based system in Australia and the allocated system up in London. I prefer the allocated system - at least everyone gets a reasonably fair share of trips.
Yes in the greater scheme of things, I'm junior back in Australia so I don't get a lot of choice, but that's not why I'm suggesting that the system needs to be reviewed.
I think there needs to be a little more equity, not just in the trips but also work positions.
Indeed, maybe the current system is worthwhile keeping, but I think some alternatives need to be investigated and put to all.
However, I don't think anything is going to change in the near future and whilst I understand that there is still a view that you should "do your time" the concept of that type of seniority is well and truly buried in most other industries. Seniority based selection has been replaced by merit or equity based selection. The sooner we move on with the rest of the industrialised world the sooner we look less like dinosaurs.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll get a canning for this, but hey.... I'm getting used to it

CART EX,
I didnt say the majority of senior crew are lazy and negative , I gave a conservative figure at about 50%, Of course i could be wrong but it is based on 18 years of hearing countless crew (mainly males) brag about how"they dont do toilets", fortunately some have left with recent packages, unfortunately too many still remain. Many of those I refer to seem to have super glued their backsides to the galley seats on night sectors.
Your right it is still preferable and practical to have some sort of request system - but NOT on seniority.

Ok lets keep seniority, lets just share it around-its called rotational seniority. Now theres a sensible compromise that should keep everyone happy. Lets be open minded about our options. lets just stop discriminating on seniority - Let everyone have a go.

Frank,
your almost right,
its not that I cant get to SFO, under this system myself and 2000 other LH crew will never get to SFO or any other favourable destinations. "i have it bad" ,great statement frank. 2000 of us have it bad and are fed up. Its not just different destinations Frank its time at home on special occassions. Or shouldnt that be important to individuals.
Your sarcastic attitude and lack of any understanding is what will cause the majority of crew to ensure this system is changed.

Look on the bright side guys you will be sharing the hotel with BA crew!! Don't know where you stayed before but the hotel is a million times better than the last one we stayed at.
Right in the centre of Narita and walking distance (or staggering) to all the bars and restaurants. Your own personal dvd player in each room and a fairly ok bar.

Cabin Crew Management changes
Mark Hassell will be leaving Qantas in early March to take up a BA Cabin Crew manager position. His replacement will be Alison Webster.
On another subject, it is interesting that a debate on seniority has commenced, Perhaps those who were hysterically anti FAAA in relation to the JFK dispensation...would also now like a membership vote on the seniority bid system.
I'm sure the FAAA will be happy to oblige .

Thanks for the information Eden, I wonder what kind of culling process they will use with the visitors, hopefully that Kiwi sociopath will go with him.
On another note not very clear what you meant with the vote business, please clarify...........................
Just had a look at the FRA flights, we now have AKL and BKK and SYD based crews on these flights.
I noticed that the AKL based crew are still on the JFK, I was under the impression that if we voted "yes" it was not going to be given to the AKL crew.

"Sound" if rather wishfull thinking I would say.
"The sociopath" is grant's personal bidet so my guess is that he will stay on until she is inevitably shown the door...........

Safe with the faaa
Eden obviously does not think that giving the membership the right to decide is necessary and that the faaa has the right to tell us what we will do......We are lucky though that the faaa was right and after the vote the company replaced the AKL crew with Australian crew.....
Well ,that was the theory anyway wasn’t it Eden?????????
Tell us what is the next bright idea the faaa comes up with?

Perhaps QF might be able to recruit some of Iran's "religeous police" to assist the efforts of it's cabin crew visitors.
These fundamentalist zealots have invaluable experience in spying on private conversation and sniffing out dissent.
Be careful about what you say in the vicinity of QCC.
The walls have ears and ANY conversation that could be construed as "negative" will have you stood down and slapped with a clause 11 quick smart.
What the f#@k has this company come to.........
Facism needs a new one word definition.
