Westin Bonaventure

I've just been reading some interesting information on the Westin Bonaventure in LA. Here's a short article from one site:
It was similar at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles. One Sunday morning in 2001, a man followed a young flight attendant to her room and pushed her in. Another flight attendant, Kathy Durst, was down the hall, heard her scream, and called the hotel operator for help. Kathy was surprised by what she says was the operator's response.
Kathy Durst: "She was coming off as unconcerned. Or thinking that, OK, you heard a scream. Big deal."
Kathy says she waited for help, and then called again. And yet again. Forty minutes went by.
Thompson: "Did security ever come?"
Durst: "Never."
Not until the victim stumbled from her room naked and made it to the lobby were police finally called. She had been raped. Records would later show the hotel operator and a security guard joked that the victim may have screamed because she'd seen a cockroach. No security guard ever went upstairs to investigate.
I don't feel like security is any better there now. It's important that crew do not become complacent in this area. Just because it is "centrally" located (via busses), does not make this hotel or the area safe. United Airlines and others moved from this hotel for a reason.
If interested, check out this, too:

I assume that this person is talking/writing Australian?

I have no idea what he/she is on about - presumably somebody will complain if it is offensive?

Whoops, no wish to offend, simply an introduction Tslot. But thank you for inviting fellowforum viewers/contributors to register complaint. Wouldnt have thought the invitation was necessary considering some of the language and prose put forth within this forum, which has not seemed to upset/confuse you in the past.
Anyway a brief explanation is perhaps in order old chap?.
Hardly Normal., correct name, Harvey Norman. A chain of Dept Stores here in Aust. A little like referring to Marks and Spencer as Marks and Sparks.
Bit of Kit., my laptop computer. Thought that would have been an easy one, very well used term over there Tslot.
3gs., three thousand dollars, approx one thousand three hundred pound sterling.
Salary Sacrafice., helps reduce tax, nice of QF dont you think.
Brown lumpy gear., similar to the word b.....it, a word often used within your moderated forum Tslot.
Coldie., now fair enough this one was a challenge in hindsight.... a cold beer.
And finally, Aloha., an often used word for greeting in Hawaii.
Hope thats all sorted govna

credibility problem......

I just heard that one of the L/H senior execs (a csm) -on the National Day of Protest last Nov.15 while we were all marching - was actually out at QCC looking to do extra work as a f/a??!! Apparently he worked!
If I am to continue believing in my union - I want to hear that this is not true!
PegArse? Eden ? An answer please.
All this talk about the faaa being a $2.4 m operation - the union execs are starting to sound very much like the company execs ( we are having trouble differentiating the memos from both.)
Animal Farm comes to Mascot.
It appears these boys are diggng in for the duration and looking more like disconnected seagulls every day.
It really is time an opposition group was formed to at least mount some type of opposition - this might jolt the incumbents out of their complacency.

QFUK CSM

hey peanut I have a question for you!
I heard on the grapevine that many are quite upset in QFUK that NOT one Aussie has been given the CSM;s job up there ( recent intake) apparently jollineck or whatever his name is only gave it to the scrubbers.
Can you shed any light!

Question DOUBLE AGENT ?

.............seems you're on the money there Lurker.
A mate of mine on a HKG pattern recently waddled past the Visitor "enclosure" near the Briefing Rooms.........who did they see seated warmly chatting and giggling with the assembled "KPI Krunchers".....one SR alias Guardian 1 alias "senior L/H exec" alias Moe Mathews !!!-Yeah yeah !!
Since when does one of our elected officials openly fratenise with the enemy ?
Is he leading a double life?
Is he a "Visitor -in waiting" a la Sheer Nylon ?
OR is he a super sleuth working undercover pretending to be a mate of the Visitors, gathering startegic information so that he can write his next piece of literary diatribe?
Oh the intrigue?
Stay tuned for the next facinating installment of.........
LOST

Same bunch of overweight, over-it whingers carrying on with the same crap as usual. Get a life, get a new job and get out of Qantas. There are thousands who would take your job tomorrow.

Flying longhaul? Fly Emirates!

turn coats

unfortunately we do have a dreadful history of union turn coats in Qantas - Sheer Nylon is a given - but that Maurice guy - ever time I hear MAM casual - the real underminers of our jobs & conditions - I want to hurl - and then I heard that "solidarity for ever" Lance's job on the 4th floor - was to systematically go through our Award and find loop holes & savings for the Company - apparently we have him to thank for the loss of the PER crew rest seats.
How do these people sleep straight at night?

Just goes to show how wrong the information can be on here. The only crew promoted to CSM were previous CSS's who transferred up to London. The same processes used in Australia were used up in London, so it was merit based. This seemed to reaffirmed by the fact that the alledged "hot favourites" didn't actually get the jobs, so there does seem to be some basis to the merit system!

hi everyone!
ive looked in this thread looking for the answer to some of my questions which couldnt find, so forgive me if im wrong as i only looked back a few pages.
qantas is hiring cabin crew for their new london base, and you can get the details from www.qantascabincrewuk.com. they require flight attendants to be at least 1m63 - first question is, are they very strict with that min requirement (i guess most airlines are but would still like to ckeck), because my friend is 1m57...which is quite a difference.
also, on the site there is no info about salaries, payments, etc, as there are in ba's site or any other airline's site... so does anyone have any idea of how the salaries, benefits, etc are? if so please post or pm me, i would really like to have an idea!

Yes, they are quite strict on the minimum height.... You need to be at least 163cm or you won't even get a look in.

Check your pm's for further info.
