Calgary Hiring Fair

Hi,

Just want to know a few things.

I'm interested in heading to the Calgary open house next week.

I'm 21, and I have an intensive hospitality background. For the medical restrictions--I have benign cyst in my head I get monitored every year. I have medical authrization to fly, and this does not affect me.

Also, the Konexion group does the interviewing--how standard/different is it from the EK hiring process? Also, what kind of hints/things should I bring to this interview?

There is no other mention that a resume is needed. From people who have attended this Konexion interview, can you tell me what you needed?

I am planning to bring a cover letter, resume, references. and a reference letter. Didn't know I needed my diplomas and other certificates like mentioned before.

Cheers!

Konexion

Pinkerton84,

The interview process with Konexion is a little different... They ask you to fill a form, give you a number, do the reach test, then a general presentation of Emirates and an individual interview with everybody. They don't decide if you're in or not, all they do is, if they think you have a chance, give you an appointment for an assessment day with Emirates.

They are very nice and don't want to stress you out... The whole process is well organized, IMHO...

Hope this helps...

Alex

Hi, Echo

JUst wanted to tel you that generally arabians are little bit relaxed, moody and calm people..so we should not wait fast reply, I guess ..or at least I hope so, But don't give up and keep calling them.
Good luck!

Great!

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear they are bit more relaxed. So what happens after that? Would I go to Dubai for an interview, or are there going to be EK representatives as well. What kind of questions do they ask at the interview?

Cheers.

Konexion Interview Process

Hello Pinkerton84,

They'll schedule an interview in the city where you attended the OD. After that it's the ususal pattern, group interview, english test (even in Canada!)...

Good luck!

My advice is that if you sent your cv into Emirates there is not a big chance that you will get an invite and my suggestion is that you rock up to their open days. If you are fit and healthy and are passionate about getting this job YOU WILL GET IT.

It took me two seperate open days to get the job and 7 months inbetween interviews but here I am and loving every day and feel very fortunate to have this opportunity.

Please feel free to send me a message.

What's Up?

Hi Everyone,

So, what advice can you give? Let's say I do this Konexion interview in Calgary--then the official interview with EK--then wait back from them--how long are we looking at here?

Also anyone can give heads up towards what kind of questions are asked at the Konexion interview, and the official EK interview that would be great.

Cheers

Thumbs up wondering???

hi amy,
felt quite relieved to hear you say that you r enjoying every moment of your being there.
I have recently beeen selected , but am a lil nervous dont have a clue what to expect.
I really would appreciate some information as to what to expect from the time i land at the airport right thru to my training.
Ive never travelled overseas and at times wonder if im making the right decision. Ive always dreamed of becoming an airhostess but just so sceptical coz of different ppl giving me negative feedback on the same.
i would really appreciate some encouragement n positive feedback that wht im doing is right and i wont regret it,
so looking fwd to anyones reply
thanks guys,,,u guys r the best

Konexion in Montreal

Thanks for all the info, guys. I did attend the first round w/ Konexion. It's very basic ... height test *the famous airbus poster*, a basic application form, and a 3min interview. She'll scan through your resume real quick and ask you some very basic questions (why do you want to be a FA, etc.). She said she needed to get back to EK to review our applications and that she'd email us within 2 days. Just got an email from her re: a change in EK's plans .. they'll be coming to Mtl in Sept (and not July). Off to round 2 in Sept :-)

Any pointers?

P.S. DRESS TO IMPRESS people! And BE YOURSELF (trust me on this one, I didn't abstain from crackin' jokes during this interview).

EK

this is the first time i am ever trying to get a job of a cc and i am a bit nervous, even though i read ur posts and they are pretty helpful, still kinda hard to just calm down about it all knowing how many ppl wanna get a cc job with EK

any useful advices u can give me before i go to the first meeting?

i have read a lot of posts, about 25 pages, but, still, anything anyone can add and advise? i will really appreciate it .

thanks

Calgary

OK the Konexion interview sounds pretty tame.

Only three minutes? OK...I'm sure that if EK isn't coming to Montreal until September, it'll be the same for Calgary, which really intrudes on my plans. I was going to enroll in a university class for the fall, and i won't be particularly happy if i get offered a job with EK in October, and be mid way through my course. therefore I'm sure it would be cool if--and this is IF I get a job--that I say I couldn't start until January?

What do you guys think.

Also, I'm thinking of whipping up a quick cover letter for the open house. has anyone else done that?

Cheers

So MontrealChiquita..

Does Konexion screen through the applicants first--then give them to EK?
Or does Konexion give EK suggested applicants--then EK will approve, then get back to you. Just wondering how you know EK wants to interview you, and when you will know that.

My 2 cents

Hello Pinkerton,

Konexion just does the pre-screening. If they think you're EK material (whatever that is!), they'll forward your resume to EK and invite you to an EK global assessment day. I'm not sure as to why they decided to switch their Montreal plans. Maybe, Konexion plans on organizing another Open Day in Montreal prior to callin' the EK peeps. And, they might be on schedule for the Calgary one. Usually, the global assessment day is held 2-3 days after the Konexion interview. Konexion will either give you a sheet of paper with the global assessment day details on the spot or they'll email you within 2 days.

Drafting a cover letter is a good idea. It shows you've put some thought and planning into it. I think you'll ace it

Well I'll just say now, good luck in September. The open house in Calgary is this Saturday. I've fine tweaked my resume, and I'm working on a cover letter.

Do you think I can prepare for anything? I wonder if the EK interview would be as intense as I've read it can be (team building tests, conversations, etc). I don't know what I can do, but just be myself I guess.

I'm also wondering how many guys work as Cabin Crew for EK?
