glad i make some ppl fall off their seat

ages ago i experienced the same as above, spoke to a young guy ( tried ) about life in Dubai and he had just started u think he'd be happy as Larry full of charm...nope depressed as hell and within a few secs brushed me off to the CSM all the others were sour faced after only Auckland-Melbourne leg.....yes i understand that they should be courteous but often they r not........makes u think.......security reasons perhaps.....scared of someone dropping a device in their pocket.....but I can assure u the moment the crew exit the pre departure CSM wrap that the smiles go on automatically and they r as professional as ever.

ozcabin I'm not crew.

For everyone interested, i just thoughjt you would wanna know that emirates has finally called up a group of people and informed them they have been succesful and asked to join on the 30th of December. These people were interviewed in singapore on the 14th of June..so we should all expect our call now )

Well, Patience is a virture
I think as flight attendant we need to be very patient
With passengers, delays in aircraft, time between clocking in and take off. Those people that have been able to wait since June but still stay positive in their mindset, thats a great thing.

Anyways once agian good luck and the excitement is building.

apparently still recruiting

A friend of mine just rang me to tell me that her friend's cousin, that is also from melbourne, just heard that she has been accepted with Emirates and leaves for Dubai next month. Funny thing is though, she only applied 2 months ago and now has the job. She applied online apparently, don't know the full details. I never heard anything after I attended the open day earlier this year.

applying on line or going to an open day?

If you want to work for Emirates, would you either apply on line or go to an open house?

hard to tell

with EK it is hard to tell which way to apply, and expect thye unexpected I was waiting for an e-mail then got called at bed time with the news just waiting start date, but i'm different, went to ass day in Manchester ages ago.

Don't worry about getting rejection e-mail and applying in another country as well. E.g rejected in Singapore then applied in Melbourne, i know someone that got through the system, probably harder now after their mass recruitment.

If u r young and have air experience FORGET ABOUT ASS DAYS go straight to the web-site and apply that way, does not matter if it is Virgin, Jetstar or even regional just apply on line, make sure u have professional shots included, believe me the process can be delayed due to what we might think is a minor problem.

AS for the EK office, well they had ass days everywhere and got bombarded, those that have been on hols should hear soon, there r signs that trainings are planned again etc...

For PaulE.. Emirates Application

Mate i went through the exact same thing and have been flying for Em's for over a year now so dont give up....

Apply apply, apply....!!!!

I was rejected and applied straight away and got accepted....

Do yourself a favour though... spend as much as you can on pics.... and a suit... its all about image.....

SMILE... like you've won the lotto and when you attend the interview be a listener who comes across like you're the most polite person in the world... hold doors open..... etc etc

Stick in with it..... i'm glad i did .... Dubai is great and Emirates look after you.....

Good look....

See you on board hey ?

I applied for Emirates in April and I went through to final interview and got asked for more photos and then I got the dreaded letter 6 weeks later- they said to apply 1 year later- I was out in Dubai in august and I went to DNATA building and they told me I would not be called again until may 2005- do you think it is worth me apllying on-line again- i know that they have put recruitment on hold!

Thanks

why online?

Hey Chinup!

Why do you say apply online instead of going to an assesment day if you are all ready a cabin crew with a different airline?

LEANNNE> definitely apply again!

Things are picking up and they're starting to fill those places. Don't get left behind - update your application! have you had any interviews yet?

I wouldnt take much notice of what Chinup has to say, as stated Chinup is not cabin crew, however for the last 3 months Chinup has been telling us Qantas cabin crew all about Qantas like he/she is the expert now he/she is moving onto Emirates. Wait until Chinup tells you the "story" about sitting with the head of Emirates HR on a flight from somewhere to somewhere and some of his/her other fantasy tales!!

Gallyhag

Is what chin up saying true? It sounds like he got told the same as me- I will not be called again until may 2005 as I had my final interview in April 2004 but wasn't sure whether to apply again in the off chance. I agree with you- it doesn't matter who you know because when I was in Dubai I met a pilot who works for emirates and it turned out that he originated from where I live and he told me he would ask his friend who works in HR and then he got back to me and told me it didn't make a difference I still have to wait!
