Hey,
Im not sure if your still keen in regards to the age with Emirates. However, I went to the open day in Adelaide when I was 20 and managed to be accepted. I was told that I had the job when I was 20, however had to wait till I was 21 to shift to Dubai. So I would still try when your 20. It worked for me!

Hey melbflygal,
The training all up is 6 weeks. the first one is pretty much orientation and paperwork! Then you have 2 weeks of Safety, which I have to say are pretty full on. Then 1 week of First Aid and then the lst 2 weeks are Service which is easy. The only tricky bit is the Safety. After this your straight into flying.
Hey,
Im cabin crew for EK and we have just been told that recruiting will start again in december. Starting first in Aus, not sure where else but Syd and Mel are the definate ones so far.
Indigofruitloop,
Good news for you, Emirates did recruit once from Adelaide in July 03 and will be more next year as there are plans to fly into Adelaide when the new terminal is finished! They will be recruiting in Aus in December this year, so get ready.
Good luck!

Some of the people over at airlinecrew.net have said they've been told they'll get a definite answer in a month or so. these are the ones who did the interview before the freeze but haven't been told whether they passed or not.
those of us of told we passed....still waiting.....

My God, Bedouin Bird!
With an upbeat outlook and that positive attitude to inspire people that obviously oozes and radiates from you, I prey you don't get in to Emirates or if you are already here I hope you are never, ever L1A or a Purser on my flight.
Miserable, negative people have no place on this planet, in team or especially Emirates.
Everybody else just hang on in there. Your time will come.

Don't be so hard on BB. S/he is just trying to temper our high hopes with a little realism. I wouldn't call it negativity and it's good to keep things in perspective.
That said I am a little more optimistic as the deadline(s) of the rumour mill float nearer. However I must be prepared for the worst:
Sounds like the whole Poland crowd are well on their way now. Kinda worries me as I was interviewed a month earlier and was told about the timeof their last interview that I'd passed and could expect placement soon.
I don't wanna be the only one left without a chair when the music stops...

Hi there!!
I work for another airline and staying at the hotel the other day in Melbourne i was checking out for my pick up of like 0510. I sat down on the lounge suite and then this whole Emirates crew sat down around me, like right next to me, i was looking at them directly in the eyes and said hello, how are you and i didn't get a reply for any one of them which seemed quite rude considering it was quite obvious i was talking to them! Fair enough it was early in the morning, but hey, that's they job. Strange?
Also another question, every Emirates crew i seem to come accross, there always seem to be a lot of South African F/A's. Does Emirates do a lot of recruiting in South Africa compared to other countries or.........? Just curious, it may just be coincidence I guess.

I got an email over a month ago with a somewhat vague 'update on your application status' promise by the end of November. No Yes/No promised but then I was already told (IN JUNE!!!!) that I passed the interviews. Don't wanna sound overly optimistic but given the buzz on the Net about how they'll restart training in Feb-Mar and that the end of the year is looming, I expect that will be the update where they give me a start date, rather than tell me to hold on for more details (again!).
Fingers crossed

CC not talking
some airlines CC are very chatty, others are almost informed not to speak to "outsiders" anyone that confronts them on the way to the airport from the airport etc.....remember they r in uniform, and they r bombarded by people all day about recruitment, how it is to work in the air etc... u would have found them completely different in a normal environment, like a bar for instance.

Chinup - Where do you get this stuff from, I dont know of any airline in the world that would instruct its crew not to speak to people, especially fellow cabin crew in full uniform. Im typing this from the floor having fallen off my chair with laughter.
Cabin Crew if you didnt know are the face of the airline they fly for and if all crew went around ignoring people in hotels, on the way to the airport etc what sort of image is that sending of the airline? What is the reason why an airline would instruct its crew not to speak with the public anyway, im very interested?
By the way just because someone speaks with you it doesnt mean they want to be cabin crew, generally people in this world are just friendly even at 0500.

I agree GalleyHag,
I was quite obviously crew in full uniform, so there was no intention of me only talking to them with the want of recruitment info, (not everyone wants to work for Emirates). You'd think that crew to crew, no matter what airline that there would be some sort of mutual friendship or "bond" without sounding corny. I think they were just plain rude, actually this isn't the first thing like this that i've heard about Emirates either.
If you are crew, as GalleyHag said, you are the face of the airline you work for, therefore should always present a friendly, professional image, ignoring someone that's talking to you because it's either too early or they're from another airline is simply no excuse and as said before is simply rude. I'd hate to be on one of their flights with an early departure, they won't talk to you in fear of being asked about recruitment. You are crew, a lot of people want to be crew, i'm sure most of us has had someone speak to them about this, but also a lot of people don't want to be crew and can generally just be nice.
i think EVERYONE (crew/non-crew) just needs to learn to be nicer & less self-involved. A little respect and consideration goes a long way, you'd think most of us working in a customer service role, seeing lots of nasty, rude, grumpy people all the time would make us the nicest people in the world, hmmm.
Something to think about anyway.
